AN: Back to Lams!!

John Laurens was just about the hottest boy in high school, and it didn't help that he was also the star quarterback on the varsity football team.

Alexander went to every game to watch the man play, and found himself falling slowly in love as John threw each pass. John was tough, but slim, and he had freckles that looked like stars on his face. He was number 75 on the field, and Alex was beginning to notice that 75 was his new favorite number.

It didn't help that John had a girlfriend. It didn't help at all, because it meant two things:

John was straight, or at least not completely gay (in a school full of hot girls, why would he pick Alex?)

John was taken.

And that sucked.

So Alexander watched from a distance, eternally trapped in a loop until the day John's girlfriend sat next to him at a game.

"I'm Peggy Schuyler, what's your name?"

Alex gulped and swallowed the bile rising in his throat. "I'm Alexander,"

"What brings you here? Do you just like football?"

"John Laurens is a really talented quarterback, that's all,"

Peggy looked at him sideways, a smile playing on her face. "Oh, do you like him?"

Alex stared at her, his eyes wide. "That's an awful strange thing for his girlfriend to say,"

Peggy looked disgusted. "I'm not his girlfriend, I'm his best friend. He's gayer than a rainbow making out with another rainbow, and I'm not much better, honestly. If you like him, go get him after the game,"

Alex nodded gratefully and decided that he liked Peggy quite a bit.

They won the game easily, and Alex and Peggy shared knowing glances as the players went to the locker rooms so they could change.

Alex laughed and rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess that's my cue,"

Peggy nodded eagerly and handed him a phone number. "Text me and tell me how it goes,"

Alex took it and nodded. "I will. What exactly do I say, though?"

Peggy thought for a moment. "Hi, my name's Alex, I really like you. Let's get a two story house in the suburbs and adopt three kids and send them all to private school because I'm gonna be a lawyer when I get out of college. Peggy blesses our matrimony,"

Alex made a sarcastic face. "Thanks, Peggy,"

"Always,"

Alex jogged down the bleachers and walked to the entrance of the field. John would have to walk through here, and then Alex could make his move. Ten minutes passed and the other players exited the field, chatting amiably and sometimes throwing a  casual wave to Alex. They saw him at every game, so he was close friends with many of them.

Finally, John's emerged from the door, texting someone quickly before sliding his phone back into his pocket. Catching sight of Alex, he smiled and jogged over. "Hey, Alex, how ya doin?"

Alex smiled nervously. "I'm good. You did really well today,"

"Thanks!" John's face lit up.

"I have something I kinda wanted to tell you," Alex decided it was best to get straight to the point. "I've liked you for a while now and I really would like to go out with you so would you like to go out? I mean you don't have to of course but Peggy sanctioned our marriage already,"

John laughed wholeheartedly. "Oh, Peggy..." he saw Alexander's anticipation. "I'll go out with you, of course. Where do you want to go?"

"I was thinking something quiet, like the forest. Do you hike?"

"Yeah, I love hiking! That sounds great,"

"We don't have school tomorrow, so can I pick you up around three?"

"I'd love that,"

They walked to John's car, then Alex leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "I'll see you then, Johnny Boy~"

John shivered and grinned.

AN: another short one! How special!! Awesome, wow!

Today's shoutout goes to non-binary people, particularly agender individuals. I recently had a conversation with an agender person, and it was really enlightening. It's so very important to learn about everyone else's genders/sexualities, and I want to promote that to its fullest extent. Thank you and good day,
