AN: Someone save me from my awful titles. Also, TRIGGER WARNING for abuse and self depreciating thoughts.

John tapped his foot nervously. Alex was going to get home any minute, and if it was anything like last night, things were about to get unpleasant.

Flashback

Alex had come home completely wasted, his shirt missing and his mind an incoherent mess. He yelled for John as soon as he walked in the door, and Alex never yelled.

John walked down the stairs. "Hey, Lex, how are you,"

Alex pinned him to the wall and growled. "Shut up,"

"A-Alex, what?"

Alex moved his hand so it was pushing painfully on John's chest. "Shut up! Take your shirt off, now,"

John, terrified, could only comply. He took off his shirt and immediately was subjected by a cold fist.

Alex threw punch after punch, pushing him down and eventually straddling him. "You're worthless, Jack,"

John nodded weakly.

"You're an idiot,"

"Yes,"

Alex slapped him. "Did I tell you to talk?"

John shook his head, unable to move much.

Alex eased off of him and went upstairs to bed. "Sleep on the couch, worthless,"

John crawled to the couch and pulled himself up onto it, letting tears slide down his cheeks as he laid there in pain. "Alex,"

John heard the doorbell ring and hurried to it, flinging it open and already fumbling with the buttons on his shirt. "Alex, dinner is in the kitchen, drinks are in the fridge, please go easy on me," he said weakly.

Alex put his hand over John's and pulled it away from his shirt gently. When John looked up, Alex was crying openly.

"Alex, what...."

"John, my baby, I'm so, so sorry. I was drunk, but that's no excuse. Break up with me right now," Alex fell to his knees, plainly begging.

"No, Alex, I don't need to break up with you. Just promise it won't happen again,"

"This is the only way I can keep you safe. Break. Up. With. Me,"

"No!"

Alex crumpled at his feet, practically broken into pieces. "Why did I ever think that was okay?"

"You didn't. You were drunk,"

"Stop defending me, just kick me out,"

"Why are you so determined?"

"Let me see the marks I left on your body,"

John slowly slid his shirt off and let Alex see the bruises that littered his torso. They were mostly everywhere.

"That was awful, why the hell did I do that?" Alex squeezed his eyes shut. "Return the favor,"

"No way in hell,"

"I did it to you. Get me back,"

"I'm not drunk,"

"Quit saying that, will you? Call the cops for abuse, that'll get me,"

John pushed Alex to the ground softly and kissed him tenderly. Alex couldn't bring himself to kiss back, so John pressed harder until Alex was forced to.

"John..."

"No. Bruises heal. Go get the food out of the kitchen and we'll talk,"

Alex nodded and scurried off, grabbing the prepared tray and setting it on the coffee table before sitting down uneasily.

"Why were you drunk?"

"I don't know. I was going to get a round with Laf and Herc before I came home, but they didn't show up and I let myself go. I shouldn't have done that, and I'm not drinking ever again,"

John nodded. "Do you remember hitting me?"

Alex cringed. "Only a fragment here and there. I didn't think it was you when I was doing it, but when I woke up and you weren't in bed beside me I knew,"

"Then you didn't mean it,"

"I still did it. You did nothing wrong, and I beat you up,"

"I forgive you,"

"That's dumb, John, don't forgive whatever bastard abuses you!"

"Alex, just don't get drunk again. Then this won't happen." John was determined to keep a level head. "I want you here, so as long as this is a one time deal, you're staying,"

"But,"

"No choice. You're mine," John leaned into Alex's chest and wrapped his arms around him.

There was silence for a moment.

Forgiveness. Can you imagine?

"John, this will never happen again as long as I'm alive,"

"Good. I trust you,"

"And I love you,"

John hummed and fell asleep, knowing he was safe now.

AN: This in no way represents my views on what should happen in this scenario. Abuse is not okay.

I'm other news, I honestly feel like throwing up. Pray for your Wolfie.
