AN:  TRIGGER WARNING FOR GAY SLURS. So this was requested, and I'm not quite sure what to do with it, so it could potentially be angsty. Sorry : )

Alexander kept his arm firmly around John's waist, ready to support him if he tripped or started to fall. John had insisted that he would be fine walking, but it had only been a week since he was found bleeding out on Alexander's doorstep. Alexander was thrown into full blown protection mode.

And that only intensified tenfold when the pair spotted Henry Laurens at the mall they were visiting. The older man didn't see his son, luckily, and Alex was able to get away with John before conflict arose. John was wary of being outside at all now.

So when they saw Henry a second time, John was instantly prepared to bail. Alex was too, if they were being honest, but Henry saw them this time.

"Fags? Woah, there's a pair now,"

Alexander growled. "Step off, Mr. Laurens. He's mine to protect now,"

Henry laughed. "You think I want a bitchass faggot son? The papers to disown you are going through, by the way,"

John flinched. Alexander tightened his grip on him. "Let's go, John, we're done with this asshole,"

But John stayed planted to his spot. He gathered his courage and began to speak slowly, "Listen, Mr. Laurens, I cannot possess a more pure hate for you. You never did anything for me in my whole life, and you're the reason that all of my problems exist. I do, however, have to thank you for giving me the best man I ever met! The best boyfriend I've ever had! Go drown in hell's flames, you motherfucker!"

John pivoted on his heel and grabbed Alexander's hand as he headed for the door. Henry stood there in utter shock, then shook his fist in John's direction.

"You think you can be better than me, fag? Go to church, bítch, you'll see how wrong you are! God hates you almost as much as I do! (Hi kids for all of you considering a religious path God actually loves you, nothing you've ever done/been can change that, no matter what anyone tells you.)"

John raised his middle finger high over his head and went outside. He walked on in silence for a bit until they had put sizable distance between them and the store, then John slid to the ground with a groan. "Alex, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to drag you into this,"

Alexander sat next to him. "It's not your fault, and you're my boyfriend anyway. I would do anything for you, especially defend you from evil people,"

John blinked to keep his tears back. "I hate him, but I still wanted his approval somewhere inside me. I still wanted a father,"

Alexander rubbed his back. "I know, sweetheart,"

John sniffed and leaned into him. "Can you call someone to pick us up?"

Alexander nodded and phoned Lafayette. "Laf, come pick us up at 96th and 3rd. Make the car warm,"

John, emotionally exhausted, fella sleep on Alex's shoulder before Lafayette could arrive. Alexander carried him to the backseat, then laid him down carefully and set his head in his lap. Alex stroked his hair as they drove, and when they reached home, Alex carried him to the bedroom that they most often shared.

"Have a good sleep, darling, I'm here to keep you safe,"

AN: I have released the first chapter of a new book! It's called Raven Dark, and it's regular teen fiction instead of fanfiction. I'm really proud of it, so check it out and tell me if I should continue it.

I've also released a Lams book with a single plot, titled Colors //Lams. It's good.
