They arrived at their first hotel around nine o clock, at which point everyone but James and Alex had fallen asleep. James was shaking everyone awake, but when he got to John, Alex shook his head. Alex slung John over his shoulder and nodded appreciatively to James.

James smiled a little and nodded back.

Alex checked in quietly, then took the elevator up to their room. John stirred a little as they waited.

"Shh, go back to sleep. We're almost to bed," Alex rubbed his back.

John sighed and fell back asleep.

Alex carried him into the room and painstakingly lowered him onto the bed. John flinched from the cold, reaching back out for Alex, and Alex chuckled a little.

"You're so cute, Peaches,"

John whined slightly, then managed to say, "Alex, come back,"

Alex decided he would just sleep in his clothes and fell down beside him. "I'm here, Peach,"

John wreathed his fingers through Alex's hair and whimpered into his chest.

"Hon, calm down, I'm right here," he stroked John's head. "Something bothering you?"

"I'm not good at road trips. This was a bad idea,"

"Aw, don't be like that. Tomorrow Laf and Herc will drive, and we can sit in the backseat and do whatever you want,"

"Ah, shit, that reminds me,"

John, suddenly alert, rolled over and pinned Alex to the bed before kissing him roughly. Alex whined against his lips, then wrapped his arms around his waist. They wrestled a little until Alex had John pinned, then they pulled apart to look at each other.

Alex reached down to brush his hand over John's jaw and said, "You're so pretty,"

John blushed hard. "I-I, um,"

Alex chuckled. "John, we've been together for years and you're still nervous whenever I complement you,"

"I'm just surprised, I guess,"

"I don't know why. You're pretty,"

"So are you," John reached up and hooked his arm around Alex's neck, pulling the man down on top of him. "Unfortunately, the rest of the world doesn't get to see you. You're mine,"

Alex got chills up his spine at John's tone. "Screw pretty, you're hot,"

John chuckled and fell asleep with Alex's warmth.

••Y'all know it's a damn time skip to the next morning••

Peggy opened Alex and John's door (she had picked up a second key from the front desk) and immediately saw the two tangled up in each other. She smiled a little and started to back out, but Alex woke at that moment and saw her in the doorway.

"Hey Pegs, what's up?"

"It's about time to leave. Change clothes and get ready, you can sleep more in the car,"

Alex rolled off of John as Peggy walked out. "Johnny, wake up, it's time to go,"

John, bless his angelic heart, was an early riser anyway and sprang up to put on more clothes. Alex rolled his eyes at his boyfriend's vivacity and followed soon after.

••Later, in James' car••

Thomas was sleeping with his head on James' shoulder, and James couldn't stop blushing. His face was bright red for at least fifteen minutes before Maria turned around from the front seat and cocked an eyebrow.

"James, if you get any redder I'm calling the hospital,"

James tried to roll his eyes but ended up staring blankly out the window, his face still flushed.

"Maria's right," Eliza chimed. "You should just ask him to marry you, I think he loves you back,"

James tried to blush harder, but he was already at his maximum percentage of red. "N-no he doesn't,"

"Why wouldn't he? You guys already spend every waking moment with each other,"

"He's happy not being tied down and flirting with everything that moves, I'm not going to take that away from him. He'll find a nice girl some day and settle down somewhere south,"

Thomas yawned and sat up straight. "Jemmy, I'm gay, and I'm dating you. I don't think I'll be marrying some girl,"

James froze on the spot. "How much of that conversation did you hear?"

"Well, I started paying attention when Eliza implied that you loved me,"

Angelica bit her lip to keep herself from bursting out laughing, and James gulped. "Um, so, what do you think?"

"James," Thomas rolled his head so he was looking at the smaller man. "You're kidding, right?"

James shook his head, almost imperceptibly.

"I love you, man,"

Angelica couldn't contain herself any longer. "Guys, cut it out, that's gay," she laughed.

Eliza and Maria shared a quick look before kissing passionately. Angelica laughed harder.

James was staring wide eyed at Thomas. "You mean it?"

"James, we slept in the same bed last night,"

"Yeah, but"

"Don't act like I wasn't cuddling the fuck out of you,"

"You can do that platonically,"

"I kissed you!"

"You're into French trash, it's a  cultural greeting!

"Whatever, the point is that I've always loved you and I want you to be my husband. Will you accept?"

"Yes, you asshole!"

Thomas leaned forward and grabbed James in a kiss.

The women in the car collectively sighed. Maria turned and whispered to Angelica, "Is that really how they proposed?"

"I don't know how I didn't see some bullshit like this on the horizon," she muttered in return.

AN: Part three eventually. I need a vote on something tho: should I do a sequel to the fic "Fight" that was earlier in this book? I believe that a friend's friend requested it, but I want to see if the rest of my pomegranates want it. Love,
