"Dad?!?!" I asked shocked, as I saw my Dad standing at my house when I got home. He was in the living room with Mom and Rory. I dropped my bags, and then sprinted into his arms as he picked me up and swung me around.
"Oh Tory! You've grown! Wow, look at you" he said, hugging me tightly. I stayed in his arms a little longer, missing him. I don't remember the last time I saw him. It was only phone calls.
"Daddy, you're here! You're really here! How long are you staying?" I asked, as he kept his arms around me.
"A few days. My parents are in town so I decided to surprise the Gilmore girls" Dad said, when we finally split and I smiled, looking over to Rory who had the same beaming face that I did.
"Dad has a motorcycle" Rory said, eyes shining. I looked to mom, who looked slightly upset but when she caught me looking, she put on a large fake smile.
"Yes, you can go on it. Rory already did" Mom said, sitting on the chair. Dad sat on the ottoman next to her, while Rory and I just stood.
"Now, what are you wearing?" Dad asked, and I chuckled.
"My dance costume. We have another show coming up soon and this one has crazier costumes than the last one. I'm hoping to get another solo but who knows?" I rambled, and Dad looked shocked.
"You said you were dancing still, but wow. That costume is..." Dad said, as Mom and Rory giggled.
"Oh Dad! By the way, do you want to come with us to a softball game tomorrow?" Rory asked.
"You play softball?" Dad asked, even more surprised. Mom, Rory and I all chuckled.
"Oh that's a good one" Mom commented.
"No, it's our friends Tom and Dean's game" Rory explained, and I nodded. Dad should probably meet Dean, considering it was now a little bit more than two months we had been going out. Dean knew Mom quite well, now what about Dad.
"Yea, sure I'll be there" Dad said, as Rory and I just looked to each other and smiled. Usually when the boys asked us to come, it was just us two and we'd bring homework to work on.
"Thanks Dad! I'm going to go get my homework done so I can hang out with you tomorrow. Sunday's jam packed with dance practice and med club, which you're more than welcome to come to practice if you want?" I said, and Dad nodded.
"That sounds great" Dad said, before Rory and I went back to our room to do homework.
"I can't believe Dad's here" I said, closing the door behind us.
"Yea, it feels different. He's never been here before" Rory said, with so much hope in her eyes. In the back of my head, I reminded myself he wasn't going to stay for long. Dad always left.
"Yea, Rory" I replied, letting her believe what she wanted to.
"So which is your Tom?" Dad asked Rory, when we got to the park. Rory smiled a little, and pointed out Tom.
"That one, there. That's Tory's Dean, and that's Luke" Rory said, as I just smiled and shot Dean a quick wave who had noticed Rory, Dad and I. He smiled, before stepping up to plate to bat.
"The diner guy?" Dad asked. Rory and I nodded.
"We eat there practically everyday" I explained, as we sat down and watched the game. Tom came over to us and introduced himself quickly, while Dean and Luke had a funny little argument.
"Hi Tom, this is our dad. Dad, this is Tom" Rory said, as they stood up and shook hands.
"Oh hi! It's so nice to meet you. The game's here aren't really for score or anything, but there fun to watch... well for everyone but these two" Tom joked, and Rory and I both looked at him with a glare.
