Go to University, but go for the right reasons.
Education isn't a gun pointed to your head: it's a weapon in your hands.
Go not because you're afraid of not getting the job but go because you love to learn, because you're excited by ideas, because you believe that education is important for its own sake, and when you get there, pay attention, read everything you can get your hands on, cram yourself with words and figures and ideas, because that's the one thing they can never take away from you.
Everyone's mind was on one thing: college acceptance letters. Seniors were barely present in classes, as they checked their cellphones every other minute looking to see if their parents texted them about the mail. No one was safe from the anxiety of the students, especially Kirk the mailman who just couldn't be efficient with the mail.
"Has the mail come yet?" I asked, as I walked up to Dean's house where he and Tom were throwing a football on the lawn. Tom shook his head, while Dean came over and kissed me. I held him tightly, before going to sit on his porch and start working on homework.
"No, still waiting for Kirk" Dean said, annoyed, passing the football back to Tom."Ugh, why does he not do things actually organized?" I sighed, as I opened my math textbook and began completing that while the boys played on the lawn.
Tom and I were still friends, as Rory and him were friendly as well. I could never not be friends with Tom, despite everything that went on with him and Rory. Tom was an amazing guy, extremely kind-hearted, and just overall a stand-up guy. He was Dean's best friend, and I knew I'd be seeing Tom a lot if I stayed with Dean. Now that Lindsay was dating Tom, it was better. Lindsay was great with me, although a little hesitant understandably because Rory was my twin. We went to a bunch of the Stars' Hollow High School parties together though, as our boyfriends were best friends, we'd have to hang out a lot.
"Kirk! Finally!" Dean shouted, as Kirk finally approached the lawn a few minutes later, and all three of us ran over to him. In typical Kirk fashion, Kirk painstakingly went through the mail, only making Dean and Tom more annoyed. Tom was getting his mail here too considering how long it might take if he didn't get it now.
"It's the big envelope!" I shouted, as Kirk pulled out a large envelope for Dean that had "UConn" in bold letters. He looked at me, completely shocked, before ripping it open and pulling out the contents. I had tears in my eyes, as we both start reading through, seeing the words 'congratulations' and 'accepted'.
"I knew you could do it" I said, tear streaming down my face as I was so proud of my boyfriend for pulling it together and getting into a terrific school for him. Originally he had even debated going to college, but Dean wanted to learn and succeed.
"You did this. I love you" Dean said, kissing me passionately.
"No, Dean, you did this" I said, kissing him back.
