Helping Mom with her breakup was like going through mine all over again, except how it should've been done. Rory and I had teamed up with Lane to buy snacks, food, magazines and anything else to keep Luke off of her mind. I remember the first days of the breakup how much I drank to forget, how I drank to not have the emotions come out. But my Mom, here Mom was in bed crying and sleeping.
It killed me seeing her like that. It reminded me of all the emotions I felt after Dean and I broke up, but was too scared to actually feel. So in typical me fashion, I went back to Yale and drank again.
Within the next month, Mom was back together with Luke again, and Rory and Logan had this weird 'casual' relationship. Meanwhile, Finn and I were like bunny rabbits again. My heart knew Finn wasn't the one, but I didn't want to be single and have to think about who I really wanted to be with, so here I was.
"Love! Is that you?" I heard Finn shout, as I walked into Finn's apartment and saw Colin and Finn on the couch with paper and a computer.
"Hi Finn, Colin" I said, as Finn gave me a kiss before I sat down next to him.
"We're trying to plan Finn's birthday. We're thinking Quentin Tarantino themed? Thoughts on venue?" Colin said, and I smiled.
"I think Quentin Tarantino themed is perfect. Why don't we just host it in a bar uptown? That was no one's apartment can get wrecked" I said, logically, and Finn wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
"This is why I keep you around. Ok, now we just need to do costumes... I'm thinking Pulp Fiction?" Finn said, looking at me. I smiled.
"Anything you want, birthday boy" I said. He just smirked, before turning to Colin.
"Okay, so let's book a place with an open bar - maybe the place that Logan had his bash at last year - and then we're good" Finn said, happily. I just sighed, as I looked to Colin.
"Well I came over to see what you wanted for your birthday" I said.
"You, my love" Finn said, looking at me seductively. I raised an eyebrow, and refrained from making out with him while Colin was here.
"Besides that" I asked.
"I don't know. Surprise me" Finn said, shrugging his shoulders.
"That's not helpful" I sighed, rolling my eyes as Colin laughed.
The next night, Rory and I drove together to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Mom called, gloating that she wouldn't be there, but she seemed happy to be going on a date with Luke.
"Grandpa, I actually have a question for you" I asked, after we arrived. The dinner conversation was fairly awkward, considering both Rory and I were fairly mad at Grandma still, but it was better now that Luke and mom were back together.
"What's that, Tory?" Grandpa asked.
"I... Finn's birthday is coming up. What should I get him? He's terrible at telling me what he wants, and I figured you'd be the best person to know" I said, and Grandpa smiled.
"Of course. Well, hmm what's he interested in?" Grandpa asked.
"He likes... alcohol, travel and movies. His whole party is Quentin Tarantino themed. Everyone has to dress up as someone from a movie" I explained, and Grandpa nodded thinking.
"Oh that sounds so fun! What are you being?" Grandma asked excitedly.
"We're going as the Pulp Fiction, Mia Wallace and the John Travolta guy" I said, and Grandma clapped her hands excitedly.
"Oh! That sounds marvelous. You must send pictures" She said and I nodded. I hated being mad at her, but I had to stick by mom and Rory on their decisions.
"How about a nice old whiskey and monogrammed flask set, or a nice set of luggage?" Grandpa offered.
"Oh I just saw these beautiful engraved flasks at Bloomingdales just the other day. I can pick them up for you if you'd like?" Grandma offered, and I smiled at her, before I felt a nudge from Rory."That's so nice of you, Grandma, but his birthday's Sunday so I'll need to just go to the store and get it tomorrow" I said, and Grandma looked down.
"Oh, yes, then you'd have to get it tomorrow. You're more than welcome to take one of the bottles of whiskey that we have. Come follow me" She said, as she led me to the liquor. Grandma was really trying to make up for what happened, and I felt guilty.
By the time it was time to go to the party, I was exhausted. I had been studying and shopping all day for Finn, and I honestly just wanted to start drinking. Finn was definitely rubbing off on me.
"Wow, do you look incredible" Finn said, as he pulled my hips close to his. I wrapped my arms around his waist, when I came out of his apartment bathroom all ready to go. I kissed his lips, and I felt his hand squeeze my bum.
"So do you, handsome" I replied, and we began drinking and taking shots, before we got in the cab to go to the bar.
Rory's POV
By the time Robert and I got there, I saw Tory and Finn drunk and basically all over each other. As soon as she saw me though, she came over.
"Sister! You made it" Tory said, as she gave me a hug. "Robert, how are you?"
"Hey Tory, you look great! Finn must love the costume" Robert said, a bit pervertedly.
"He does. You two look great as well" She said, with a smile.
"Love! Where are you?" Finn called out, and Tory looked back at him.
"That's my cue. See you later" She replied, as she headed back to him. As soon as she got near, Finn pulled her back into his arms, and made out with her for a bit.
"I've never seen Finn with someone as long as he's been with Tory" Robert commented, as we looked at them. I nodded. "I think he actually really likes her, despite the fact they're not really together"
It was a few hours later, when I saw my sister dancing with Finn with everyone watching. It was clear to see the sexual chemistry between them, but to be honest, I missed her more with Dean. Tory was either studying, sleeping, or with Finn, and whenever she was with Finn she was usually drinking or having sex, or both. They didn't do many actual dates or anything like that. That was too "serious" for the pair supposedly.
Tory's POV
The next morning was a brutal one. I woke up naked in Finn's bed, which was typical, and put on one of his large shirts and some underwear so I could make him breakfast in bed. I barely remembered most of last night, but I ended up at his apartment so couldn't really say I did anything bad.
"Morning love" I said, when Finn finally woke up. He groaned, and sat down at the kitchen counter. I poured him a cup of coffee, as I worked on making eggs, bacon and bagels
"Good Morning Birthday Boy! " Colin and Logan said, as they came in carrying champagne, orange juice, and some random breakfast treats.
"Wow, Tory, you're the picturesque woman here. Finn, I'm jealous" Colin asked, looking me up and down. I rolled my eyes, as Finn sent a smirk my way.
"Yes, isn't she the most perfect birthday present?" Finn said, as he stood up and kissed me passionately, before stealing a piece of bacon from the plate.
"Thank you, now sit and you'll get breakfast" I said, as i made each of them a plate of bacon egg and cheese bagels.
"God what's your secret for these? They're incredible" Logan asked. I shrugged.
"I learned from this guy who owned a diner" I said simply.
