"Good morning Mom" I said, as I walked into the dorm room with Janet after she convinced me to go on a run with her. I figured we'd do some bonding, and running is good exercise, so why not?
"Who are you and what have you done with my daughter?" Mom said, as she looked at me. I sighed, as Rory chuckled.

"I went on a run with Janet, my roommate. She arrived last night" I explained, as I took a water from the mini fridge. Mom raised an eyebrow.

"Okay... well your sister plans on being the first one to class, again, so I will see you Friday?" She said. I nodded, and kissed her cheek because I didn't want to get her sweaty.

"Love you!" I called out, as I headed to go get changed for the day.

"Hey sis, coffee run?" I asked, after I changed into a cute denim dress that Sandy, from Chilton, had told me to wear on the first day. Even though I wasn't out to impress guys, Sandy said this would be crucial for me to look good this week to get into the correct 'cliques'.

"Isn't shopping week amazing? Which ones are you adding to take on? I spent all of last night figuring it out" Rory asked, as the excitement shown brightly on her face. I smiled.

"Yea, there's a bunch of interesting science and math ones I'm going to add, but I'll totally go along with you if it sounds interesting and doesn't conflict with any of mine. What are you going to?" I asked, as Rory pulled out her list. I had mine in my bag, so we collaborated and found a few that we'd go together to.

"So, what were you up to last night?" Rory asked, as we finally got our coffee.

"Just calling Dean, then talked with Janet. She seems really nice, actually. Very into fitness which will be great, and a little bit stern in personality, but I think she'll be a good roommate. Don't know how Paris will feel about her, but eh. Not my problem" I said. Rory chuckled.

"Oh wonderful. How's Dean liking his classes and roommate?" Rory asked.

"His classes and roommate are fine. He's getting into the fraternity life there, so he's going out quite frequently with some upperclassmen and super busy with them. He doesn't have that much time to talk anymore, but he's happy so I am as well" I said, ignoring the slight twinge in my heart.

"Are you going down there this weekend?" Rory asked, and I shrugged.

"There's this big recruiting event down there for the fraternity he wants to rush so he doesn't think he'll have time. But there's supposedly a lot of things going on here this weekend, so I don't mind" I said, a bit of a lie. Rory looked at me, and could tell I was feeling a bit down, but didn't say anything.
