Chapter 3

"No!" Mother said in shock. "There is know way, you are even touching a paw over the water!"

"We're touching a paw over the water" she sighed. I couldn't convince her, but StripeTail agreed with me. He took mother to his den, and when they came out, she agreed with me! Sometimes I wonder how StripeTail always convinces people to do stuff. Once StripeTail made up his mind, that's what's going to happen, whether you like it or not.

We were standing in front of the water. There was a bent over tree that almost lead to the other end of the water, like a bridge. Not that we didn't enjoy water, we love water! But if we can climb the tree, we might be able to jump onto one of the roofs, to avoid being seen.

"I don't know if I'm very stealthy anymore." Mother said, "You need speed to be stealthy, and you must be light on your paws, and I'm none of those anymore" Mother explained. Me and StripeTail looked at each other. "We will go on our own than" StripeTail said. Mother nodded "Be safe" she said and rubbed herself on us both, and we rubbed back; The way us cats greet, give farewell, or show our affection for one another. "Bye for now" StripeTail said to mom. "Bye mom" I said. "Bye my kittens" she said, then we started climbing. I was at the front, so that way if I fall, StripeTail can catch me. I struggled a bit more than I usually would climbing the tree, but I didn't think much of it.
We finally got to the end of the tree. "Now jump" StripeTail whispered. I gulped. It would be a long fall if I fell. "Come on!" He whispered again. "Mmm" I moaned. I turned around to tell StripeTail to go first, but the next thing I know, I'm in the air. I heard moms gasp from here. A meow got caught in my throat as I fell onto the roof of a house. I moaned. "A little warning?" StripeTail ignored me and jumped after me. He landed beside me. "Sorry about that" he said calmly walking past me and across the roof.

StripeTail whispered something too quiet for me to hear. I looked over and saw him crouched down on the edge of the roof. I followed him and followed his gaze. 'Dogs'
And that was nothing. 'Humans'.

There was a human in shaggy clothes and fur that looked like he just finished having a mud bath. He was yelling at a dog. All the dogs were in a perfect line with their postures as straight as they get, all but that one dog. His name was BlackHawk, i read. Then there was Chesty, Chips, Judy, and Oscar.
'Oscar for a female?' I shrugged off the thought. "Sit!" The human ordered. His face was red and his veins looked like they were going to pop. BlackHawk sat down then scratched behind his ear with his hind leg. He was sitting with the opposite of posture. "Straight!" The human yelled again. "Blah,blah,blah" I faintly heard BlackHawk say. "No growling to your master!" The human yelled. "Get me the whip" he pointed at a younger man. "Hey, I'm not growling!" BlackHawk barked. "No barking either!" The human yelled then snatched the whip from the younger human. The human whipped the floor and it made me jump and look away. I looked back to the human, expecting BlackHawk to have had the same reaction. But he certainly didn't. He didn't even budge. "Come on, walk away, give up on me, you know you want to" BlackHawk said in a tempting tone.
"That's it! I'm done! No more!" The human yelled started. "But sir" the younger man started, putting his hands out in an attempt to stop the older man. "No!" Yelled the older human, and the younger one pulled his hands back in. "I'm done with him! Dogs never listen! I feed them! I brush them! I love them!" The older man said and the younger one snorted a laugh. "You love them?" The younger one said. "No!" The older human said stomping away. The younger human followed. Once they were out of sight"jump!" StripeTail said, and grabbed my scruff and jumped down as I swallowed a scream.

We landed and the dogs turned around and barked. I heard the younger man say as he came closer "The dogs are calling!" But his voice vanished as we heard the older man say "Don't bother, they probably saw a bird!"
