Chapter 26

I yawned as I woke up. I had a mostly dreamless sleep. Uni sat next to the tree, on the ground. I jumped down branches, until I finally landed on the ground. "Hey Uni? What's up?" I asked. "I-i-i have t-to go" she stuttered. "What do you mean? Do you really want to go back to The Horizon Clan now? The disease is still going there." I said to Uni. "There not the only place that has the disease" Uni said.
"Where else has it?" I asked.
"Here" Uni simply said.
"Here? Who has it here?" I asked.
"Me...I caught it from Wise...I need to get out of here before it spreads to You'se" Uni said sadly.
"But...how can you tell you have it?" I asked, not wanting to except it.
"When we have the disease... We often cough up purple...the cause of the disease must poison us, with purple poison. So the cause could be an animal. Like a snake or spider" Uni said. Ew...
"Purple?" I thought out loud.

A scorpion crawled from the bushes.
I let out a sigh of relief. I had never seen a scorpion before. It had a big, sharp stinger. Something purple dripped from it, onto the soil, and the soil drank it, staining it black.
I wonder if there poisonous?

I remembered when Wise first caught the disease. It was the scorpion.
"Uni. Before Wise got the disease, I saw a scorpion. Something purple was dripping from its stinger." I said.
"What? You knew what caused it this whole time and you didn't say anything?!" Uni stood up.
"No, I didn't know what it was at the time!" I quickly said. Uni sat back down. "Well, I need to go" she sighed.
"Go where?" I asked. "I will wander around on my own, until the disease kills me" Uni said. "But...someone has to be there with you" I said.
"No... Or they would catch it..." Uni sighed. "For so long I nursed cats while they had the disease... And now...I'm the one with the disease..." She sighed. Uni stood up.
"Goodbye BlueWhiskers... Thank you for being my friend" she smiled.
I shook my head. "I will come with you" I said. "No Whiskers, I must go, before i get worse" Uni said.
"But...someone has to be there for you...someone has to burry you" I said starting to tear up. Burring was an important thing for me and my family. Its showing respect.
Uni began to walk away.
"I'm sorry Whiskers...if only life could be so easy" she said.
"No! Wait!" I called. Uni coughed a few times. "Before...it gets worse" she repeated. "But..." I started.
"Goodbye Whiskers" Uni said.
"G-goodbye..."

I watched as Uni left.
"BlueWhiskers? Where's Uni going?" Gentle asked. "She caught the disease" I said, still looking the direction of Uni. Gentle jumped off the last branch that she was sitting on. She sat next to me. "Before Wise caught the disease, I saw a scorpion" I started. Gentle cocked her head to the side.
"It had purple poison or something dripping from its stinger" I said.
Gentle gasped. "Purple? You think the scorpions poison causes the disease?" Gentle asked. The rest of the cats, dog, and bird, jumped off the tree branches. "I think so" i said.
"But what's the cure?" Backstab asked. I shrugged.
"Well, let's get out of here. If anyone caught the disease, tell me right away. We don't want to bring the disease to The Peace Clan." Ra said.
"Then what? You abandon us? I'd rather keep it a secret" Snicker said.
"Or we find a cure for you" Ra said.
"You know what the cure is?" Snicker asked excited. "No" Ra shrugged and began walking. Snicker sighed.
"Great..."

We all began walking.
"I'm so tired of walking!" Better complained. "Just like five more days or something!" Snicker said.
"I can't wait that long! My paws are killing me!" She complained.
"Well, when we get to The Peace Clan, I'm sure we can rest as long as we want" Backstab said.
"Are we there yet?" Better asked impatiently. "Does it look like we're here yet?" I asked. Better sighed.
"My paws are killing me! We've been walking for more than half a month, barely eating, barely drinking, and barely sleeping!" Better complained.
"Well, we can get plenty of that when we get to The Peace Clan!" Snicker said. "You know, to get from The Horizon Clan to The Peace Clan is half of the forest" Backstab said.
"What?! If you told me that before we left I would have started my own clan!" Better yelled. "And who would join with you?" I asked.
Better sighed. "Okay, I think we're all tired, that's all. But no need to get all grumpy" Gentle said.
"Maybe we wouldn't be so tired, if we could sleep in a bit longer!" Better hissed. "Its not up to me!" Gentle growled. "I'm just trying to calm you guys down" Gentle said.
