Chapter 8

Fear hissed at me. Wildfire smiled as I appeared in front of her. She slashed at my face, and blood streamed down from the wound. They slashed wildly at me. But then I heard a bark. It blew away the trees and soon Wildfire, Fear and then me..

I stood up and stretched. I looked to the entrance of my den and saw an excited Silken WindHound.
"Silver! Silver!" The dog limped around. I walked to the entrance of the den and saw Silver run to the other dogs side. "What is it Sensitive?" Silver looked worriedly at her. "I'm pregnant!" She exclaimed.
"I've been gone looking for my brother for two weeks, and I come back to see you pregnant?!" Silver said shocked.
I then noticed it was still dark. I must have only slept for a few minutes.
The female WindHound, who's name seemed to be Sensitive, nodded happily. "I'm going to be a father!" Silver said excited. 'Excited to be a parent? Don't get it...what's so great about that?' I walked to my bed and lay down. I felt very moody, not having any dreams but nightmares might be the reason.

I decided to leave my den and go for a walk or something. I padded around aimlessly until I heard something. I stopped and looked to my right where I heard the sound. I noticed a cat noticed sitting on her own outside her den. I padded up to her.
"Hey" I meowed. "Sup."
"The name's Chill." She said.
"I'm BlueWhiskers."
I decided to say what had been on my mind. "Don't you ever feel like you want to contact someone but they're too far away?" I asked.
"I understand what you mean, I know people who live far away... But It may be possible for you to contact your friend, I don't think I can contact my friends though." Chill sighed, looking up at the night stars. I cocked my head in confusion. 'Why couldn't she contact her friend but I can?' I wondered. Chill made a short chuckling sound that sounded sort of like a huff. "You'll get it someday."
I shrugged. "So, you said it's possible for me to contact my family?" I asked hopefully.
"Pfft, yeah sure." Chill stood up and stretched. "I know someone who can help you with that. When I find him, I can send him to your den if you like." Chill said. "Yeah sure!" I said excitedly. Though I was confused about how it was possible.

I padded towards my den, and cuddled up in my bed.

A cold breeze blowing in from the exit of the den woke me up. I looked outside for a few minutes, before I noticed something. A bird.

The bird flew in from the entrance
of the den. It was a hawk. He landed on the edge of my bed. "Hey" he chirped. I sat in surprise "You know cat language?" I asked.
"I had to learn all languages" he said.
"Why?" I cocked my head. "So I can talk to all animals. I wouldn't be able to send messages otherwise." "So people write letters and give them to you, and you take them to their destinations?" I asked. "That's right! Great idea right!? Nobody else seems to like it! So wanna be my new customer?" He asked.
I wasn't sure what customer was, but it sounded like something I would like to be. "Yes please!" I stood up excited."Okay then! I'm Alex, and you are?" The bird bowed his head. "Bluewhiskers. I wanna send a message to my mother, Pounce, and my brother StripeTail. They live in HomeValley." I said.
"Okay than! StripeTail and Pounce in HomeValley!"

I grabbed a piece of bark from my den floor. I carved in it with my claw:
Dear mom and StripeTail, I thought I'd let you know how I'm doing.
At the moment I'm in my huge den!
Me and Blackhawk found a clan with cats and dogs! The leader is a cat named Gorgeous, and the Beta is a dog named Silence. I became an apprentice patrol cat here at the Horizon clan. I met some new cats and dogs and we became friends! Better, Backstab, Snicker, Gentle, Pitch, Black, and plenty more! I even met a leopard family, who just had kittens! One of them died...but me and my friends buried it! We even put a gravestone for it!
But it hasn't all been that well...I have been having nightmares every night...about Wildfire and Fear... I don't know how I'm going to stop the dreams...can you help me?
