Elijah Mikaelson & The Dragon's Quest

Chapter 6

Niklaus found the light switches and soon the abandoned garage was illuminated. Kol and Elijah searched the car and found Davina's luggage still in the trunk and her purse on the floorboard. There was nothing of Megan's in the car, not even vehicle registration. The brothers searched the garage but did not find any additional evidence of the women's presence in the garage. All the doors to the exterior were secured from the inside with chains and padlocks so it was unlikely that the women simply walked out the exits. Had they exited via the arched entrance they would have been found with Charlie's facial recognition program.

Elijah live streamed the garage panorama back to Charlie for additional analysis. As he did so, something on the floor caught his eye and he walked toward one of the car lifts and peered down into the mechanic's pit. He bent down to examine some long strands of brunette hair that were caught in the metal plating affixed to the steps. As he held up the strands, Kol appeared suddenly beside him. He looked at the hair then down into the pit, and shouted, "Davina!" Kol jumped down into the mechanic's pit checking the walls and the floor but again he found nothing. Niklaus cautioned him to wait and jumped down in the pit with him. Elijah bent down next to the pit as the two searched inside again.

Niklaus looked at Elijah and shrugged his shoulders, and then he saw that Elijah's eyes were fixed on something else inside the mechanic's pit; an oddly placed control panel. Niklaus stepped to the panel, looked back to Elijah and then to Kol, who was now standing beside him. Niklaus began to press the switches, one at a time first, but then in multiple combinations until a grinding sound was heard. Both brothers jumped out of the pit and watched as the floor of the mechanic's pit opened and revealed a stairwell leading underneath the garage.

Kol was ready to jump down the stairwell but Niklaus grabbed his arm, cautioning him to wait. Elijah was on the phone again with Charlie and Angelica as Charlie was pulling up the schematics of the City plans to find out what was under the body shop. Kol was impatient and in a blink he was gone down the stairwell. "Kol!" shouted Niklaus who sighed then followed his younger brother through the portal. Elijah told Charlie and Angelica what was happening and that he had to go. He hung up and followed his siblings into the Boston underground.

The brothers walked a short distance in the underground passageway until it split off in four different directions. Each tunnel looked exactly like the others and there were no discernable markings to identify one from the other. There were no clues on the path to aid in picking the right tunnel to follow. Elijah looked at his phone, "No Service," he would not be able to seek advice from Charlie or find out what he discovered, if anything, in the City plans. They discussed splitting up but that would still leave one tunnel uncovered. The tunnels seemed to go on for miles and they had no way of knowing what they would encounter. But what they did know is that witches were involved, and the Mikaelsons had a bad history when dealing with witches.

Elijah cautioned his brothers, "We should bring in more for the search." But Kol was blinded by his emotions and was ready to follow the tunnels wherever they would lead, desperate to find Davina Claire. Kol stood at the entrance of the tunnel to the immediate left, looked at his brothers, then he was gone. Elijah and Niklaus paused for a moment then decided they should all stay together. They disappeared down the tunnel behind Kol.
