Freya was exhausted upon her return to the safe house. Elijah insisted she rest overnight and they would start fresh in the morning. It was obvious that everyone needed a break to be in peak condition when they face the enemy. Freya promised him she would but first she wanted to complete the purification spell on Angelica to be certain she was not marked by the Pentadeae Coven's magic. Elijah relented and left the room to speak with Kol about the next steps.

As Freya burned sage and incanted around Angelica, a quizzical look came over her face. She sat down in front of Angelica, perplexed. "What is it, Freya?" asked Angelica. "There's no trace of the Coven's magic on you," came the reply. "Isn't that a good thing?" But Freya's response was that something didn't make sense, there should be traces at the very least. Elijah walked back into the room and asked Freya whether there was a problem. She explained what she found, or didn't find, during the purification spell. Elijah asked her whether she was certain the Coven used magic on Angelica. Angelica shrugged her shoulders as she was not certain. During the moments that she was lucid they had not but she did not know what they attempted while she was unconscious.

But Freya filled in the blanks for her, explaining that the Prophet did try to siphon magic from her but he was unsuccessful. Freya believed it was the runes that protected Angelica but it also raised the Prophet's curiosity about her. "I guess that explains how I ended up in the Morgue being readied for ... forensic analysis?" commented Angelica, seething a bit at the thought of what they had in store for her that resulted in her placement in the Morgue refrigeration chamber. Freya nodded then added, "They know you are a vampire but they seemed to sense that you have a certain degree of magic. They seemed to know nothing of your other ... abilities." Elijah commented, "Well, none that are still counted among the living."

But Elijah realized that Freya was hesitating and asked her whether there was more. Freya nodded and mulled over how to explain what she sensed. "Your runes protected you from magical attack," she said to Angelica. "But, I am sensing ... more." Elijah clarified, "More good or more bad?" Freya shook her head that she was sensing nothing evil or nefarious, it was only that Angelica's protective defenses were incredibly high. "I would expect that to be normal after yesterday's ... experiences," said Elijah, intentionally choosing a word that downplayed the reality of what happened to their family. "Perhaps," conceded Freya, "your aura has changed as well, I normally see this particular shade of black with pink swirling in it on when you are physically present with Henrik Finn. I've seen you interact with him on the phone but your aura doesn't change like this. But perhaps you're right, Brother, after yesterday I would certainly understand if that were the cause of this change. It is nothing to worry about, Angelica, you are fine. Well, I am going to turn in and we will start fresh in the morning."

Elijah touched his sister's hand as she rose and Freya did a double take on Elijah. Turning to face her brother then grasping both of his hands and standing back. "Incredible," she commented. Elijah looked at her with a furrowed brow. "Your aura has changed as well. You both have transitioned into an extremely protective mindset but Brother, your aura is black with red and pink swirling in it." Freya paused as she examined her brother's face. She realized what that meant and how dangerous he would be to the enemy as a result. Yesterday truly impacted Elijah and Angelica on a very deep and very emotional level.

Once they were alone, Elijah pulled up a chair and placed it across from Angelica, sitting down to face her. He took her hands into his and kissed them both, holding onto them as he spoke to her. "I know you don't want to hear this from me, but is there no way for me to convince you to join the family in Mystic Falls until this is over? You obviously are conflicted between staying here and rejoining our son." Angelica shook her head and told him that her intuition was telling her to stay with Elijah. That if her theory was correct about the portal she may be the only one who can stop the Coven from opening the portal with the Celestial Key.

Elijah relented, agreeing with her logic even though he wanted his wife to be as far away from this threat as possible. He instead asked her to tell him what she did remember from her abduction the day before. He knew that it must have been traumatic for her to wake up in that chamber, that is surely must have dredged up 300-year-old memories. She glanced down at the floor and took a deep breath before answering. She recalled for him everything that she remembered, everything that had been done to her, and how she escaped the chamber. Elijah listened to each word she spoke, adding fuel to his rage for wanting every single member of the Coven to die by his hand.

Angelica changed the subject and asked about Davina Claire. Elijah told her that Davina was recovered and Elijah convinced Kol to take her to Mystic Falls until the threat had passed. Should the Coven make another attempt against Davina, Bonnie, Hope or Henrik Finn, Niklaus and Rebekah would need Kol's help in defending the family. Elijah promised Kol that he would notify him once they had located the Prophet as they may need help in taking down the powerful witch leader of the Pentadeae Coven. Kol was ready to mete out some payback for what had been done to his beloved Davina but Elijah knew that Kol would be an undisciplined wild card if he were to come to Salem while they were still trying to locate the Prophet and the Key.

"Elijah, we have another problem," Angelica said. Elijah met her gaze as she continued, "How did the Coven know Freya would be at the abandoned clock tower at noon? You, me, and Charlie didn't know we would be there until roughly ten minutes before we arrived." Elijah leaned back in his chair then looked down the hallway towards Freya's room. "What made Freya go to that building in the first place? It took time to set those charges in the basement and no one was in the building except the three of us before it blew." Elijah thought over what she was saying, "You don't think Freya ...?" She shook her head, "No, she would have been killed by those charges if you hadn't been there to save her. But they knew where she would be when even she didn't know until an hour before we arrived. Once she found it, she had immediately started work preparing it for her use, including erecting a perimeter spell to alert her of any intruders. The charges were already in place because they knew she would be there." Elijah leaned back and pondered the magnitude of her conclusion, thinking, "How indeed does one fight an enemy who knows what we will do before we do it?"
