The floor disappeared beneath Elijah and Freya's feet. It took everything the Original had to pull his sister to him to shield her from the rubble that was crashing down on top of them as the building collapsed around them. Angelica was blasted off of the steps and lay in the middle of the street, unconscious, blood streaming from her head, her body riddled with shards of wood and shrapnel from the explosion. A dark van pulled up next to her and the door opened. She was pulled from the street and disappeared into the van as it sped away from the scene. Her damaged smart phone lay in the street in a pool of Angelica's blood.

As the dust settled, Elijah pushed up and cleared a path to the surface. Freya was injured badly and he worked quickly to get them free. He soon saw sunlight and climbed out from under the debris, carrying Freya. He laid his sister down on the grass and bit into his wrist, feeding her his blood to help her heal quickly. She was bleeding from the nose, ears, mouth and had several open wounds. As he held Freya, he scanned the area for Angelica but could not see her. He turned his attention back to Freya who had started to move around, the blood healing her and reviving her. His phone was still in his pocket and it was vibrating. He pulled it out of his pocket and saw three missed calls and two voicemails. It was Niklaus.

Elijah answered the phone and Niklaus briefed him on the failed attack in New Orleans and the failed attack in Virginia while completely glossing over the specifics of Henrik Finn's actions, only assuring his brother that Henrik Finn was safe. Elijah told him what had just happened. He told Niklaus he needed to find Angelica once Freya was recovered. Elijah was interrupted as he gasped at the stake that pierced his heart. He collapsed to the ground desiccating before Freya had fully revived. One of the Pentadeae members drugged Freya and she collapsed back onto the grass. She was quickly carted away as they left Elijah on the ground, his cell phone next to him, with the sounds of Niklaus shouting Elijah's name blaring through the phone's speaker.

Minutes later Elijah recovered and endeavored to pull the stake out of his back. His anger was so great that he barely felt the pain of the wood as he threw his back forcefully against a tree. As a result, the stake protruded through his chest further allowing him to grab the end and pull it all the way through him. He threw the stake on the ground and grabbed his cell phone from the ground.

Elijah was enraged. He stood there for a moment as he allowed the monster that resides within him to take control. His wife was taken. His sister was taken. His son had been placed in danger. That was only the tip of the iceberg as far as the Pentadeae Coven's sins were concerned. Elijah had enough. The witches were going to pay for their misdeeds with their very lives.

Elijah looked at his phone as it vibrated in his hand. Niklaus again. Elijah answered the phone and listened as his brother spoke to him. Niklaus detected the change in Elijah's tone as Elijah succinctly recounted what had happened. "Brother, I am coming back to Salem," he said, recognizing that his brother had unleashed the monster, knowing that if Elijah went too far he would be tortured by his own actions when he put the monster back in its cage. But Elijah told him there was no need, Niklaus needed to remain in Virginia to protect Henrik Finn, Hope, and Bonnie from any further attempts by the Pentadeae Coven. "Keep my son safe, Niklaus, I am counting on you," he said, then asked his brother to ensure Henrik Finn delivers his letters of apology, in person. Elijah then hung up with his brother.

Charlie was grateful that Angelica was a creature of habit and had put the earbud in her ear as she left the house. He wished that Elijah and Freya would have done the same. Charlie had heard everything that happened up until the explosion. He was on the move toward the collapsed clock tower in the Grumman, dialing Elijah, dialing Angelica, dialing Freya. "Dammit," he yelled, as none were answering. He listened to the sounds and voices coming from Angelica's earbud, recording everything. "At least it was still broadcasting," he thought. He was nearing the clock tower when Elijah finally answered his phone.

Charlie noticed Elijah was being more succinct than normal as Elijah explained that the two women were missing. He voice was deadpan, even-toned, not a trace of emotion was coming through in his speech. Charlie reached Elijah before their phone call ended. Elijah's suit was covered in dust and soot and it was tattered from gaping wounds that had healed. Charlie was already working on tracking the cell phones but Elijah handed him Angelica's broken phone that he had found on the grass and told Charlie that Freya's phone was buried somewhere in the rubble. Charlie told Elijah he would see if he could track her earbud, but Elijah replied, dryly, "I don't need GPS to find my wife." Elijah's jaw was locked in determination and his eyes projected a steely coldness that sent a shiver up Charlie's spine.
