Elijah Mikaelson & The Dragon's Quest

Chapter 13

Charlie stayed behind to coordinate with Boston Police Department's forensic team that he had arranged via their contacts in the New York Police Department. As far as Boston PD was concerned, Charlie was an NYPD investigator following up on missing person's case and he was "one of them." The others went to the hotel to clean up and recover from the ordeal. All three brothers were bothered by their visions even though they knew them to be a creation of a witch's trap taking advantage of their darkest fears.

Niklaus had texted Rebekah to let him know they were alright and she told him that Hope and Henrik Finn were asleep but they would tell the children as soon as they awoke. Elijah lay on the bed holding Angelica as she slept. He was going to video chat with Henrik Finn but decided he would call him first thing in the morning. Niklaus peeked into the bedroom to check on Elijah and Angelica, and Elijah motioned him in. Elijah rose from the bed and embraced his brother, thanking him for helping him and for helping Angelica. Niklaus nodded and told him that Freya sent him to retrieve Elijah because it would be better for Angelica if the three of them kept their distance from her, just for the night. She had channeled a significant amount of negative energy and she needed time for it to dissipate. Elijah understood and reluctantly left the room with Niklaus. He wasn't going to sleep that night anyway. He was still trying to rid himself of the remnants of that horrifying vision he had experienced.

Angelica slept through sunrise but Elijah knew she needed the rest so he did not disturb her. He took the tablet out of Angelica's bag and initiated a video chat with Henrik Finn. Being able to speak with his son helped Elijah put the nightmare memories behind him but the pain of his experience would linger for some time. Soon Hope was up and after greeting her uncle she asked for Niklaus. "Here I am," said Niklaus who then sat down and chatted with his daughter. Henrik Finn came back on the screen and Elijah told him that Angelica would call him later in the morning. Henrik Finn handed the tablet to Rebekah and Elijah and Niklaus caught Rebekah up on everything that had happened. They told her they would call her when they knew more.

Charlie arrived bearing gifts of coffee, tea and breakfast. He told them the fingerprints were being analyzed and he should soon know Megan's true identity provided she was in the national database. He showered then returned to the living room of the suite, laying a map out on the table preparing the next phase of their operation.

Angelica was the last to rise. She showered and dressed but was still groggy and Elijah made her sit down until she shook it off. He handed her the Chai tea Charlie obtained especially for her, and she sipped it slowly. Elijah told her he had already spoken with Henrik Finn and that the boy was enjoying himself at the Salvatore School. Angelica smiled, and Elijah kissed her on her forehead. She wrapped her husband in her arms and held him tightly, knowing that the nightmare he endured was still picking at his subconscious, but also knowing that his devotion to his family would not distract him from helping Kol find Davina Claire. The witch's trap only escalated that desire further since Davina was part of the Mikaelson family, even though she was estranged from them. She mattered to Kol and that was all that Elijah needed to motivate him.

Elijah did his best to convince Angelica to return home, but she would not go. Her place was by his side and the power of this new enemy was not yet apparent. Their team was strong and diverse, a Mikaelson first-born witch, three Original vampires one of which was a hybrid, a Dragon, and a tactical and surveillance expert in the form of the Dragonetti vampire. This diversity would be their advantage.

Charlie had the room as he briefed what they had found and the assumptions they were making about the situation. The tunnel exit needed to be investigated as it seemed that Megan drove Davina into that garage where the entrance was magically concealed, took Davina against her will into the tunnel as evidenced by her luggage and her purse being left behind in the car. They went through the tunnel and emerged at the exit then activated the magical witch's trap should anyone follow behind.

Freya had not slept all night, busily working on magical solutions to their current situation. The first was a locator spell to see if she could find Davina Claire but Davina was magically hidden beneath layers of spells. It would take Freya time to peel away each layer and it was not a quick process. These witches were creative, so Freya determined she needed to create talismans for them to protect them from magic. When she finished the talisman necklaces she gave one to each of them. She made several other items she thought they might need on their quest to find Davina and put them all in a bag.

She then returned to the locator spell. She was tiring so Kol offered himself for channeling to boost her power. She took his hand and the additional power helped her clear away the last of the cloaking. The drop of blood on her map began to move and came to rest on a small coastal town a short distance outside of Boston. All eyes were on the little town that had a catastrophic history related to its treatment of witches, a town where witchcraft practitioners hid beneath the façade of tourist shops and attractions; it was the infamous town of Salem, Massachusetts.
