EPILOGUE

Angelica's pregnancy was much easier the second time around even though she carried twins. They used the special diet that Mason/Remus had created to help her through her first pregnancy and this, coupled with consuming Elijah's blood, made the pregnancy the closest thing to normal as a pregnant vampire can get. She experienced some fatigue but no morning sickness. Even labor was easier with the second pregnancy and Angelica delivered two beautiful baby girls with blond hair, green eyes and fair complexions. Henrik Finn insisted on being at the hospital, he rarely left his mother's side throughout the pregnancy and he was taking his responsibilities as the protective big brother very seriously, a trait he no doubt inherited from his father.

Albee drove the Mikaelson family home from the hospital while Rafe and Charlie followed in the second SUV. They arrived home to find that Rebekah and Freya Mikaelson were already there, waiting to see the newest miracle babies. The littlest Mikaelsons would be dragons, empathic witches, and living vampires; their birth made possible by the divine intervention of the Alpha goddesses, and Elijah and Angelica both wondered whether the goddesses had gifted the twins any additional qualities. As Rebekah and Freya hovered around Angelica and Elijah, each holding an infant, the question of the names was broached. "Please don't make us wait for the christening this time!" Rebekah begged. Elijah smiled at Angelica and nodded. This is Astrid Faith Mikaelson," said Angelica, referring to the elder twin, "and this is Beatrix Diana Mikaelson." Rebekah cooed, "Hello, sweet girls," as she lightly touched their little noses.

Angelica and Rebekah carried Astrid and Beatrix to the nursery and Henrik Finn followed her. Charlie excused himself and headed for his computer room, already implementing new security measures for protection of the ever expanding Mikaelson family. Rafe and Albee also excused themselves to give Freya and Elijah some privacy in the study. The siblings discussed the implications of this latest miracle birth and of Henrik Finn, Astrid and Beatrix's destiny in the years to come. Freya told her brother that she was there for Elijah and his family, for whatever help they would need. He and Angelica had only but to ask. Elijah embraced his older sister and kissed the side of her head. Elijah pondered whether the future had yet to be written for Elijah's family, or whether that future had already been recorded in the stars. Regardless, Elijah had been miraculously gifted with fatherhood three times now, and he took in a deep breath as the awesome responsibility that came with those gifts sank in, pondering his place in the destiny of his beloved Dragon Queen.
