Charlie caught up to them at the hospital. Elijah had left him at the collapsed clock tower as he followed his senses that ultimately led him to the hospital. The Coven had cloaked Freya and Angelica but the link between Elijah and Angelica was strong enough to break through the spell. Charlie had just finished the arrangements with the clean-up crew before his system alerted on the hospital fire alarm and subsequent evacuation. He arrived at the hospital, staging the Grumman just outside the perimeter, then slipped inside. He made his way to the security room and found the footage that documented what had transpired. He downloaded the footage before planting a computer virus that destroyed the entire computer system. The virus worked its way to the server room destroying any record of their presence at the hospital. He followed the trail left by Elijah and Angelica, the corridors empty as evacuations were nearly complete.
As he reached the private elevator, the doors pinged then opened. Elijah emerged carrying Freya and Angelica walked behind him, carrying the amphora. Smoke was billowing up from the elevator shaft indicating that Angelica had set ablaze the area below. Charlie motioned for them to follow him and he led them out a side door to the waiting Grumman. In moments, Charlie was driving the lot of them back to the safe house. Elijah gave Freya his blood to restore her completely and she shared with them everything she had learned during her captivity.
Once they arrived at the safe house, Charlie went to work reviewing the hospital footage. He needed to quickly identify the Coven members, separating the living threats from the dead ones. Freya, Angelica and Elijah each showered and emerged in fresh, clean clothing. Freya picked up the amphora and told them she needed to get to Davina quickly. Charlie arranged for a special flight and grabbed the keys to the SUV to drive Freya to the airfield to meet the inbound AEM helicopter. Before he left, he told Angelica that the photos were ready on his computer and she merely needed to tag the Coven members and indicate their status. Angelica thanked him, stopping just long enough to embrace her, then headed out the door with Freya on his heels.
Angelica and Elijah found themselves with a rare moment of solitude. She knew something more had happened than just the clock tower although the clock tower explosion was quite enough. She felt it in her heart but she also felt that Rafe, Albee and Henrik Finn were alright, but something was amiss and she could not reconcile the paradox. She confronted Elijah to tell her. Elijah was very stoic in his response and recounted for her almost mechanically the events in New Orleans and Mystic Falls. She found herself holding her breath as she listened to him. The good news was that the Coven had failed and many of their members were dead. But the worst of it was that Henrik Finn had witnessed the bloody battle then killed over a dozen Pentadeae members using his own powers. Their five-year-old son would have died if not for Albee. Albee had died a real death and Henrik Finn felt responsible for it, even though he had resurrected him. Their son had seen and done things that no five-year-old child should ever experience no matter how advanced he was for his age.
Angelica leaned back against the wall, overwhelmed by what Elijah had told her. She understood more fully what had caused him to allow the darkness to emerge. Elijah Mikaelson had just marked the entire Pentadeae Coven and Angelica concurred with the death sentence. Angelica wanted to leave for Mystic Falls immediately but knew that since Henrik Finn had displayed such powerful magic in the presence of the Pentadeae members the greater threat were the surviving members, their leader the Prophet, as they called him, who would likely have felt the power displayed by their son making him a target. It was up to Elijah and Angelica to eliminate that threat for good. This was not an enemy from which they could run, and their son was safer in Mystic Falls surrounded by powerful family and friends.
But the knowledge of what had happened to Henrik Finn was devastating for Angelica and tears fell down her cheeks. She closed her eyes as she tried to alleviate the heartache, the pressure of which made her feel as if her chest would explode. She felt Elijah's hands on her face as he brushed away the tears with his thumbs. She opened her eyes to see Elijah staring directly into her eyes, she saw the rage and the anger behind those eyes, she saw the cold and calculating monster, but she also saw love as it was his deep and unwavering love for his family that was his motivation. He kissed her gently on the lips then embraced her as she let down her guard and cried uncontrollably in his arms.
