"Would she like this?"
"Uh... No, I don't think so."
"What about this?"
"Um-No."
"How about-"
"Definitely not."
Linda huffs out a tired breath and tosses the fancy blue shirt back onto the table. "This is hopeless!" She groans and places her hand on her forehead. "I'm going to be dead before we get out of this store."
"Don't be over dramatic." I roll my eyes, causing her to laugh at me.
Linda and I were currently at the mall, searching for a present for my mom. I don't understand why Linda would want to buy my mom a present, it's really weird.
As soon as Cam and I got to my dad's, Cam didn't talk to me the entire way here because I kept teasing him about his accident in his pants, Linda threw me into her car and drove us to the mall. I didn't even have time to go put my stuff in my room.
"Why don't you get her a candle or something?" I suggest and her head snaps towards me. "She likes candles."
"I'm not getting your mother something with so little meaning." She states and my brows furrow. "Let's go to a different store."
We begin walking around the mall and into many stores. After almost two hours of searching, we end up in a vintage shop. My eyes roam around the store, reminding me of a store I went to with Hunter a couple weeks ago.
I wonder what he's doing right now.
Hopefully not sneaking into my room and trying on my crop tops. Or getting drunk.
He might be at practice. I remember him saying something about having practice during break to Chris one day at lunch. Or he could be with Chris and Blake.
I wonder if he even knows that I'm gone. If he sneaked into my room, that might mean that he knows that he knows that I'm not there. What if he knows I left and just doesn't care?
I bite down on my bottom lips as I look through racks of clothes. A few minutes later Linda finds me and there's a giant smile on her face.
Linda shows me a small velvet box. She opens it once I raise a brow at her and I look down at the small, wire, heart shaped necklace.
When I nod in agreement, Linda smiles widely and walks up to the counter to play with it. "I hope she'll like it." Linda mumbles as we walk to the food court.
"I think she'll love it." I comment and Linda looks over at me with bright eyes.
After ordering a sandwich from Subway, I sit down a table in the corner of the food court and wait for Linda to join me.
She walks over to me with a sandwich in one hand and a soda in the other. A smile lights up her face as she sits down in front of me and lays the bag with my mom's necklace in it on top of the table.
"Hey, Linda?" I call her name after a couple of minutes of silence.
"Yes?"
"Why did you want to get my mom a present?" I ask and her brows furrow.
"Because it's Christmas." She shrugs.
"But why couldn't we have just bought a candle? That necklace was expensive." I point at the bag.
"It doesn't matter the price." She shakes her head. "Your mother is a wonderful mother." She tells me, causing my brows to furrow and hers to return to normal. "She deserves more than just a small, dainty candle that will be gone within months. Tiana did an amazing job raising you and Cam, I just hope that my present will tell her that."
