Enough rambling. ON WITH THE CHAPTA!

Keith's POV

It's been quite a few months since we had that episode - it's what we're all referring to it as now. Lance is well on his way to a full recovery after plenty of monitoring, confiscating sharp things and having therapy with Coran - surprisingly he's good at this kind of stuff. Who knew the crazy uncle could handle broken people so well?

I mentally slap myself. I shouldn't be thinking of Lance like that - he isn't broken, he's just been through a lot. And here I thought that my childhood as an orphan had been tough. At least some people pretended to care for me.

I banished the bad thoughts from my mind, and walked to the control room, Lance almost crashing into me as he sprinted out of the room, teary eyed.

Reflexively I spun around and tried to grab his shoulder, my hand missing it by a few centimetres.

What happened to him?

In the room Shiro looked startled, with his arm stretched out towards Lance.

"What did you do to him?" I asked, aggression creeping into my voice. My fists curled.

"Lance asked me about what happens when people go missing in the Garrison. I told him the truth - they just claim that the person is dead and send the letter to his family. I should have at least told him softly, shit-"

It's rare thing to see our leader curse. That means that this is much much more serious than what I thought originally.

"Shiro it's not your fault, he's homesick, and he still has family out there that cares for him, of course he's going to freak." I replied, calming down a bit. " For now, we should look for him and comfort him."

"Wait Keith! That's not why he ran away..." Shiro called after me. "He asked to go home and tell his family that he's okay, but I shut him down too hard." Shiro said softly.

Makes sense.

I ran out of the door and straight to blue's hangar. If there was any place there for him to run it would be there.

But that was not the case.

He wasn't in his room either.

Where on earth could he be?

I heard shooting in the training room before I skidded to a halt.

Hunk was in the kitchen, Pidge was in her room, and I just talked to Shiro. Was that Lance in there?

I stepped up to the door and it hissed open silently.

Deep in concentration was Lance with his bayard, shooting down the battle robots one at a time. His lips moved, whispers carried away by the heavy gunfire and the crackling of electricity from the weapons.

Lance's bayard transformed from a rifle to a heavy loaded one shot gun, and within moments, it blasted a huge heated laser towards most of the robots, blasting the top half of them away, before they fell harmlessly to the ground.

His lips moved once more as he moved forward, and his bayard morphed into light pistol with a sword, and he manually cut and shot them down, three at a time.

Was this Lance?

I thought he was bad - the worst paladin out of us, but a paladin nevertheless. Even if he wasn't a good one, he is still important to us, even if he may not realise it.

Something clicked in place - Lance usually did this at night, when everyone else was asleep. To hide his efforts. To surprise when people least expected it. I often heard firing at night, and I always assumed this was Shiro. But Shiro hasn't improved much - it was always Lance.

"Level 59 start." The robotic voice spoke, void of all emotion.

Lance stood in the middle and his head turned slowly, eyes wide with shock as he saw me staring at him.

All of a sudden from behind, a robot tasered Lance with it's weapon and he collapsed, his eyes gently rolling back in his head and the robot continued advancing - towards me.

I stepped into the room and just barely managed to dive out of the way before its weapon hit the wall with a dull thud, and the crackle of electricity.

Rolling towards Lance, I picked up one of the weapons across the floor and threw it at the machine, before it flawlessly caught it and ran towards me. At the same time, about 12 other robots were dropped from the sky and I narrowly ducked as one of them fired at me singeing off a bit of my mullet, and the other hitting me full force into the wall causing me to gasp from the pain. Damn it, I'm probably going to have split ends and a sore back by tomorrow.

"End training sequence!" I shouted and the robots, like a ragdoll, collapsed to the ground.

Although I spent a few minutes in that training sequence, it was difficult - too difficult. How did Lance manage to get this far?

I stood up slowly before making my way towards Lance, shaking him slightly and shouting in his ear.

He did nothing. What happened to him?

I turned him over to examine the wound, if there was any, finding his clothes torn to shreds behind where the electricity hit him, clothes and flesh slightly burnt.

But I found something else as well.

All over his back were wounds, millions and millions of cuts, bruises - some new and some old. But the one that stood out the most was the scar that ran all the way from his shoulder to the base of the spine. My breath hitched my throat, and I immediately picked him up bridal style and ran to the healing pod.

I got him ready to be placed in the pod, before Shiro and Coran behind me helped me place him in.

The pod sealed, and he was illuminated gently by a soft blue light.

"Keith are you okay?"

I was about to say that I was fine, realising that my mouth wouldn't obey, and my eyes closed, the darkness engulfing me.
