Keith's POV
Where had they gone?
"Allura, what do we do? They're both gone."
"How are we supposed to pilot Voltron now?"
"Allura" Pidge spat out. "My friends are missing. They could be dead for all we know, and all you care about is forming Voltron?"
Allura looked hurt for a few moments before she apologized.
"I'm sorry Pidge. Hey, maybe we can track them?" Allura suggested.
"Good idea!. I'll start this now." Pidge exclaimed, whipping out her laptop. "We should be able to trace their tracking devices in their suits. And also if they have a heartbeat" She added quietly, typing away at her laptop before connecting a few wires from the ship to it.
The time stretched from minutes to an hour and from an hour to multiple. An uncomfortable silence passed over us, hanging over us thickly.
Until suddenly, Pidge shouted "I FOUND THEM!"
We all quickly followed Pidge into the control room, looking at the constellations and planets orbiting the sun in their relative galaxies.
There were two dots pulsating in one of them.
Pidge stood up next to them, and zoomed in on them.
"Here - " She pointed to the dots " - is where they both are. Shiro and Lance. They're in the place that we were in before - we've basically left them behind. Lance may have fallen out of the Blue Lion, considering her jaw was almost hanging off. I'm not sure about what happened to Shiro but-"
"That's great! We can just go and pick them up right?" Hunk interrupted.
"It's not exactly that simple Hunk." I spoke quietly.
"Yes, right now, the fleet has arrived and are assisting Haggar in gathering their remains. If we tried to enter in the state we are now, we could find ourselves in the middle of a much harder battle than last time. Escape would be even harder. Besides, all lions took a beating in the last battle. It wouldn't be wise to shoot straight back into battle."
I stood up. "Well then our main priority is to get back in business. We'll be strongest when we have Voltron fully operational again. Meaning we have to do repairs on all of the lions, and also find 2 more paladins, unless we find both of them before hand." I looked down darkly, and the others did the same.
"Coran, Hunk, Pidge, you guys start on repairing the lions ready for use. Allura and I will discuss plans to infiltrate and bring back Shiro and Lance."
We both sat down whilst the rest ran out of the door to Lance's lion I presume.
"Okay, I know that Lance was injured when he was in his lion, can you tell me the extent of his injuries? We have to take this into consideration when we rescue them."
"I did enter the lion when my suit tore-" My eyes widened. How was he supposed to survive in space if his suit wasn't functioning?
I cursed out loud, earning a weird look from Allura.
"He seemed to be pretty bad, it seems he had a severe head injury, but that's not what I'm particularly worried about. It was my suit. We switched suits while he picked me up. Mine tore, and I couldn't get back to Red without wearing his."
"Does that mean he-"
"Yes, he's most likely dead by this time, I don't know!" I cried out.
I dropped my head in my hands and groaned out.
He could be dead because of me!
"Keith, it's okay." Allura soothed, patting my back gently.
I heard a sharp gasp. Hunk stood there in the doorway, with his hand over his mouth.
"Did you say that Lance was most likely going to be dead?"
"I-I don't-"
"Most likely, considering his condition." Allura cut me off.
Hunk's face dropped, hurt.
"Well I believe that Lance is alive." A little smile formed on his face. "Back on Earth, me and his siblings used to call him their little survivor. He was always strong for them you see? On the surface, he was strong for us too."
Hunk remembered, his face softening from recalling a distant memory. "He'll be coming back. Don't you worry." He said, giving me a bit of relief and confidence.
Allura and I sat down, thinking of candidates to pilot both the black and blue, and we eventually realised that we were going to have to find someone else to pilot Blue. Afterall, we didn't have enough people that could fit the bill as Paladins. Sorry Coran.
After a few hours, Allura and I made the announcement to go to Black's Hangar to find a new leader.
I remembered one of the conversations me and Shiro had, if he ever died or went missing, I should take his place as the leader of Voltron.
Sure I could make my way through battle, and give instructions when required, but that shouldn't automatically make me the next Black Paladin.
Which was why I suggested that everyone should try to pilot the Black, before I take over. It's not exactly my wish to lead Voltron, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Allura tried first, but came out a few minutes later, shaking her head.
Hunk went in soon after, and so did Pidge, both giving the same reactions.
Now it was my turn.
I climbed in and sat in the seat, much bigger than what I'm used to.
I place my hands on the controls and waited.
Moments later the screens lit up, and I groaned out.
I climbed out of my lion and sat down.
"I'll have to lead Voltron then. We now need to find a pilot for the Red or Blue. Allura said she may be able to act as a paladin for one of those lions, but no matter how we look at it, we need one more. That means, we need to find someone trustworthy. I think, that's going to be your brother Pidge - Matt. You said a while ago that you had a lead right?"
"Yep. That's corre-"
"Then we'll aid you in finding Matt. He might even know something to help us get into the galra base. So, what we need to do is quickly fix the lions and then find your brother. After that we find Shiro and Lance. We'll bring them home." I concluded.
Everyone kind of stared at me. "What's up?"
"Nothing" Allura spoke. "You just seem more leader-like."
"Thanks. I try." I spoke, feeling a little pleased with myself after the past few hours of dread
???'s POV
I looked down at my new experiment, performed on only the best of humans, especially when he needed it most. His body was completely tattered, broken and bleeding - completely unsalvageable. He would have died of oxygen deprivation if I hadn't found him in time. But not to worry now. I gave him a new one.
"Wake up soon my little Galra. The world is waiting for you Lance."
;)
