A date

Keith's Point of View.

The Castle's alarms blared through the corridors, warning us that the Galra were within striking distance. We all ran towards the main control room as fast as we could.

"Pidge, what's going on?"

"So far, we've had just a single ship coming near us, but nothing major - which is weird. The castle's defence systems can take care of it and we also put in that upgrade a while back which lets us slip by practically invisible. The ship hasn't spotted us yet, which is good. That means that the system upgrades are working, but we haven't finished messing with the old systems. Back to fix it I guess. Let's warp out of here so I can take it down for a bit and see what's wrong with it.

Allura placed her hands onto the controls and opened the mystical portal to some other obscure location that we often used to do upgrades.

I had nothing better to do, so I went to help Pidge with the work.

"Hey Pidgeon, how are the upgrades going?" I asked her.

"Meh, could be better - we need to know why our systems glitched. I'm pretty sure that I coded and integrated the new systems right, but, I don't kno - ACHOO!" She sneezed again.

"Okay that's really we-" I sneezed.

"Is there something going around the castle? Like a space cold or something?" I asked.

"I don't know, I hope our immune systems can fight it off though. Although we have been in space for a very long time, we grew up on Earth with Earth illnesses. Who knows if our bodies can handle this one?"

"I don't know pidgeon. I mean Lance already told Coran that he wasn't feeling well, but he just felt unusually tired. It could be something different or it could be the same thing, but is affecting him differently?" I put the idea out there.

"Could be. Not sure. Anyway go find Lance and tell him to get here - I know he picked up on some techniques while he was stuck at the Galra base - he could probably help cut through this work in half."

"Sure thing."

Lance's Point Of View

Keith came to get me, and I went on over to try and get the work done quickly, but thoroughly. We can't have our systems down for long or it could make us vulnerable for too long.

"Hey Lance, you integrate that part of the system, and I'll work from the bottom up. Sounds good?"

"Sure thing."

We both set to work, our fingers typing furiously on the keyboard, but I miss the clack-clacking of the old ones on Earth. The faster we can defeat the Galra, the quicker we can return home.

We worked harder and faster, eventually spending over 5 hours in a hunched position. Our back started hurting a lot.

"Aaaaand... WE'RE DONE!" Pidge declared. Thank the lord. I groaned and finally stretched my arms, then my legs. Galran bodies were definitely not made for continuous typing. Or at least this one wasn't.

I was heading towards my sleeping quarters when I bumped into Keith again.

"Hey Lance, I was just looking for your. Are you done fixing the ship's systems?"

"Yep, just finished a while back, I was gonna go take a nap. Why, what's up?"

"Oh, I - uh - was wondering if you..." He looked at the ground and then at the ceiling, whispering something to himself. "WILL YOU GO ON A DATE WITH ME!" He ended up shouting in the corridor. I swear the whole castle would have heard that.

"Hey Keith. YES!" It was a date long due. We had no idea what we were going to do as a date on the castle but we were going on one anyway.

We strolled through the castle, hand in hand until we arrived at the food area. The crops for the goop that Coran planted a while back were doing nicely, and were already in bloom, glowing slightly, in the dim lighting.

"Oh wait I have a good idea." I got out my headphones and went to the panel in the corner of the room, plugging it in and playing some slow music.

I took his hand and placed them around my neck, and slotted my arms into the curve of his waist.

With our feet we took small steps in circles in time to the beat, swaying our hips and leaning into each other for comfort and warmth.

Just as the music reached its zenith, the flowers released their pollen into the air and the room filled with little glowing specs.

In this moment, the beauty of Keith had been amplified - it was just right.

Our lips made contact, and warmth burst forth from our hearts and spread throughout our entire body.

I could see why people did it often.

We pulled back with a flush on our faces and my eyes became lost in his.

That was until he stepped on my foot.

I yelped in pain and bent down to gently rub my foot, which was probably bruised.

We both looked at each other and began to laugh wildly. It was great while it lasted.

While it lasted.
