ON WITH THE CHAPTAAA

My eyelids opened gently - it's been the first time in a few weeks since I've had any proper rest. I sat up slowly and grabbed my phone off my desk to check the time.

Early in the morning huh? I better get up before Allura decides to have a go at me.

I make the move to get off the bed, but was weighed down by something else on top of me snoring away. Shiro's eyes were shut gently, lost in what seemed like a pleasant dream. I carefully pried his hands off me and let him rest in my bed. He had been working hard for a very long time - he deserves a good rest.

I remembered what happened yesterday - I was tasered in the back and then taken to the pod?

I stood in front of the mirror and turned around to see the huge scar that ran from my neck to the base of my spine.

I shuddered as the scent of anaesthetics and chemicals flared up from a distant memory, causing me to inhale sharply and shudder.

I looked at the single worn photograph with me and all of my remaining siblings, and I took out one more - a picture of mama, Sophia and Benji.

Carefully, I tucked this one next to the other so that it stayed on the wall.

These people, and so many others are who I'm fighting for.

"Lance, is that you?"

I flinched and spun around, looking at Shiro in the eyes, although I doubted he could see that. The room was very dark indeed.

"Yeah. C'mon and let's get some grub" I spoke, making my way to the bathroom.

I opened the door and light bathed the bed with Shiro on it, raising his eyebrow.

"Aren't you getting food right now?"

"Yeah, after I have a shower and brush my teeth that is. I don't know about you, but since I've been in space, I've been at least trying to keep up personal hygiene. Unlike some people. Like Pidge."

Shiro made a face of disgust and stood up from the bed. "Her room is like a trash heap."

"Well that's because she barely uses it, until I force her to sleep." I spoke, shrugging my shoulder.

"Wait, you tell her to go to bed?"

"She finds it hard to sleep sometimes and she is absolutely addicted to technology. Just a warm glass of milk gets her sleepy." I smiled at the memory of Pidge nodding off, her face peaceful.

I shook my head back into reality.

Damnit Deja vu.

I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower, setting the temperature. Altean showers were magnificent.

I stripped all of my clothes and hopped in, letting the hot water glide across my skin and I sighed. I closed my eyes to savor the tender warmth the water provided me with, and I jumped a little, remembering images of red and black.

Okay now there is definitely something wrong with me.

"You okay?" Shiro asked as he walked in.

"Yeah, just remembered something." I said with a sad smile.
