It was a huge storm, the weatherman wasn't wrong. The house was rattling with every sound of thunder. I hate storms, so when it started getting bad out, when it started getting dark, I brought my blanket, pillow and phone charger down to the living. I put the TV on and just let it play, I didn't necessarily watch the television, I just needed something else playing. When my father called me I answered right away.
"Hey, I looked at the weather, and it said that there's a huge storm at home. Are you kids ok?" He asked,
"Yeah, we're fine. It isn't that bad. I think we've been through worst over here." I said, then sighed. "dad, what were you thinking when Natsu's parents asked if he could stay here with me?"
"Well, they told me what happened when he was left alone last time, and since you, two are friends, and close I thought you two could keep each other safe when we're gone."
"I-It was a bad idea," I said, there was a pause as if my father was thinking extremely hard.
"What happened?" He asked,
"At a point in your relationship, was mother ever a really good friend with you?" I asked,
"Yes, she was my friend since I could remember." He said, "Why? What happened?"
"I think I may have a crush on Natsu." I said, "but I told him I didn't want to lose our friendship, so I told him I couldn't do that with him." I said, then laughed slightly. "I don't know what to do daddy."
"I'm not that very good at advice, but I can tell you this. If I and your mother pulled through, then you should try and give Natsu a chance. I know you're worried about your friendly relationship. I and your mother had that problem too, we had our fights, some that almost cost us everything. But we made it work, and I think if you tried, and you really like him, you can pull through and do it." He said I smiled.
"What was that about not giving good advice?" I asked he chuckled, "Thanks, I'll figure something out." I said,
"Alright, I'm glad you're alright, if you need anything else, then give me a call. I have to go, but I'll check on you tomorrow to make sure the house is still standing."
"Alright bye dad, I love you," I said, then hung up. I set my phone down as Happy came trotting into the living room with a rose. My heart stopped. He dropped it at my feet, looked up at me and meowed. I blushed slightly and picked the rose up. Happy stood up and walked away, then realized I wasn't following him, so he stopped and meowed. I stood up and followed Happy down the hallway, he went straight to the porch door. "Oh no, you don't." I said, "It's raining out there, you'll freeze in seconds." he didn't listen, he scratched at the door. "What is the matter with you?" I asked.
"He likes playing in the rain." I turned around, Natsu was leaning against the wall. "No matter how hard the rain is coming down." I looked back at Happy,
"Does he not get sick?" I asked,
"He's a cat." He said, "He does what he wants."
"Well, I'm not letting him outside," I said, Natsu got off the wall and walked around me and grabbed the doorknob.
"Then I will." He said I put my hand over his, preventing him from opening the door.
"I don't want him running around my house wet," I said, he grinned at me.
"I'll make sure he's dry." He said I took my hand off of his.
"Fine, but only because I like Happy," I said, then walked away.
"Not because you like me?" He asked, I turned around and grinned.
"Don't push it," I said, then walked away. I gripped the rose as I went back to the living room. I slowly sat down on the couch and looked at the flower. I began to smile and laugh slightly.
"What's so funny?" I jumped, the flower flew from my hand and onto the floor. I turned around.
"Why do you do that?" I asked, Natsu shrugged, then looked at me.
"Do what?" he asked.
"Sneak up on me and scare me," I said,
"I didn't know being naturally stealthy was a bad thing." He said, I breathed in and put my hands on my hips.
"Well, don't use it on me," I said, then turned around and picked the rose back up.
"You like it?" He asked, I turned and looked at him again.
"Like what?" I asked, he pointed to the flower.
"The rose." He crossed his arms and looked at me. "
Do you like it?" he asked, I looked at the rose then back at him.
"Yeah. I do." I said, "Thank you." I said. He looked at me a little surprised.
"You're welcome." He said I nodded then looked around.
"Where's Happy?" I asked,
"Still outside." He replied. I bit my lip and thought for a minute.
"D-Do you want to go outside?" I asked, he gave me a funny look.
"In the rain?" He asked I nodded. I put the flower on the couch, then grabbed his hands. I pulled him to the porch door, then opened it. The cold air hit us hard. It actually felt good. I turned the light on. Happy was rolling around in the mud.
"Oh no," I said, Natsu laughed. I looked at him. "You're giving that cat a bath," I said,
"Yeah yeah, I know I know." He said. I grinned and pulled him into the rain. We got soaked instantly, I laughed. I didn't like storms or the dark, but I felt safe within both. Happy rubbed against my leg. I looked down at him, he looked at me and meowed. I smiled. Natsu grabbed me by the waist and pulled me into him. let's try Without even a heartbeat I grabbed his face. We shared a kiss as the thunder crackled in the background.
