Zombie! Matt x Reader
Ayyye guess who got some mega random inspiration?
Hiding is fucking boring.
I get it. I go outside, I die. I leave this room, I die. I look oUT THE DAMN WINDOW, I DIE.
Hell.
Well, okay, that last one was an exaggeration. I can still look out the window. I mean, I'm doing it right now. It's not like those undead dumbasses could climb.
I was keeping watch for survivors. A part of me had hope that I wasn't the only one around here not infected yet. There had to be someone else...
At least, I think so.
I've been keeping watch for days. I haven't left this room. I'm safe here.
Bored, but safe.

An alarm was sounding outside.
I snapped awake, scrambling up off the floor with a crowbar in hand. I peeked out the window as I smoothed my hair down.
Smoke was coming from somewhere in the near distance, near the middle of the city. It sounded like an ambulance. They'd probably crashed. Whatever survivors there wouldn't survive for long...
I sighed and sat back down. So much for searching. I'm starting to think that nobody will be left.

It had been about fifteen minutes since the siren went off. I was just hitting the floor with my crowbar when I heard knocking and a voice from the door downstairs.
I waited a few moments, tensing up, before realizing that that's a human down there. I quickly rushed downstairs, crowbar in hand, and removed the barracades. I then unlatched all of the locks, and opened the door.
There stood a tall young man with panicked baby blue eyes and messy orange hair. He had blood stains on the slightly torn lavender hoodie he was wearing, as well as on his pale blue jeans and the dark green overcoat tied around his waist. A smidge of blood ran across his face, as well. Tears were pouring from his eyes, and he was hyperventilating. And I could see why.
Where his left arm should be was nothing more than a bloody patch of tissue and bone sticking out. Blood was dripping out, and he was doing the best to stop it with his hoodie sleeve, but was badly failing. I gasped and covered my mouth. I would have been disgusted, had I not been used to the utter grossness of the zombies that were pretty much everywhere.
"P-please, help me!" the man said, hiccuping. I nodded and pulled him in. The wound still looked pretty fresh. There was still a chance to save him. I dragged him upstairs, and made him sit down before quickly running back downstairs and reinforcing my defenses.
After doing that, I sped upstairs again, and found the first aid kit I had been hiding. I then returned to the man, helping him to take off his hoodie, and then beginning to somehow try and fix this wound.
As I worked, he spoke through gritted teeth. "S-so... what's your name...?" he asked tensely. I glanced up at him as I responded, looking him over. His shirt interested me. 'I❤M@'.
"The name's Y/N." I responded. "Who's Matt? He your boyfriend?" The man laughed a little, even though he was wincing. "N...no. Though I do wish..." he says before shaking his head. "I, I'm Matt."
I slowly nodded, wrapping up his nub of a shoulder. "I see. Well, Matt, it's great to meetcha. What happened?" I asked.
As I finished fixing up his little issue the best that I could, he told me the story about how his friends and him were out for a night in the town when they were attacked by the first few zombies of the outbreak here. One of them had gotten bitten and turned, which killed one of the others. That left Matt here with one other friend, and they got seperated when the friend tried to make a path with an ambulance but died in it's crash. Matt here was still alive, even though he lost his arm.
"Yeesh." I said, putting the first aid kit back where I'd previously had it hidden. "That sucks, man...but hey! At least you're not alone anymore, right?" I said with a smile. He chuckled faintly and nodded. "Uh...yeah. Yeah, you're right. It's, it's nice to meet you, Y/N."
"Same to you, Matt."

After that day, we were always by each other's sides. Day by day, we got closer together. His arm seemed to be doing fine. After a few weeks, he said it stopped hurting entirely.
We'd become pretty great friends by now. Altogether, I think it's been about...what, a month and a half? Before the apocalypse, I probably wouldn't have made friends with someone, even if I'd known them for a year and half. But, losing everyone you know and love, as well as basically everyone else in the world, kinda makes you more sociable towards those who are still alive. At least, in my case, it does.
We were always helping each other out. During the day, we would sometimes go out for supplies, or we would just hang out and talk. At night time, we would lie down in the corner and curl up to keep each other warm. It seemed like a really odd thing at first, but hey, it works.
Besides, I kinda like how it feels to be cuddled against him. Though I would never say it out loud.

Recently, something weird's been happening with Matt.
His skin has been turning paler and paler, almost green. His arm has started bleeding again, I've had to change his bandages three times this week already. His eyes have changed from that brilliant baby blue to an indigo-purple, as though red has been added to them. And the biggest change of all? His personality.
His attitude, his behavior, it's all changed. He was so childish and naive when I met him, it seemed. He was like a little kid who was thrust out into the real world. Now, he sounded like a war chief. He sounded... I dunno, edgier? And he spoke with more intelligence than before, I noticed. It was odd.
As for his personality. He's become sort of... possessive? Dominant? Something like that. Instead of just lying against me at night, he would wrap his arms around me and pull me close to him. He would feel me up when I'm focused on something. He'd hug me randomly from behind. Once, he'd even given the nape of my neck a soft little kiss.
I'm a bit afraid to admit it, but I've definitely got feelings for him by now. With how he acts towards me...he's a prince charming. My own disturbing kind of one, at the least.
I can't help but love him... no matter what he is.

No more avoiding it now. Matt's a zombie.
It came slowly. His skin turned a grassy green, his eyes a crimson red. His arm stopped bleeding again, and he took off the bandages, replacing his missing arm with a skeloton's arm. He even had sharper teeth now.
I think I should have been scared. But, I wasn't. Somehow, even though he was a zombie, Matt was still sane. Matt was still Matt. The same Matt that I know and love.
The same Matt that loves me.
He said so himself, last night. I finally gained the courage to tell him how I felt about him while he was cuddling me last night. Though he might be undead and I'm still alive, nothing can change the fact that we love each other.
Hah. Who'd of thought that an apocalypse would need to happen for me to have my first kiss.
Don't get used to me updating again. Just in case.
