Scene 7: An Unexpected Visitor (Maria)

I dreamt about time when Vincent died, the time when I was investigating the place, the building on the opposite side of the street, I saw a man standing in the building his silhouette was shown but it was not clear enough to know his identity but this time I was closing in until the lightning struck and for a short amount of time I saw his full features and to my surprise it was Vincent’s dad who was gazing at me, and when the lightning struck again I woke up and the surprises didn’t end there, I saw blue eyes and hair a long blue dress with a cape lying next to me I jump out of bed in surprise and she sat up and scratched her head saying. “Oops, sorry Maria didn’t mean to scare you.” She said.

I rubbed my eyes and focused it on her. “Verra? What on earth are you doing here?” I asked.

She stood and hugged me. Then she pulled away still grasping my arms. “I wanted to see how you were doing so I came.” She said. “I’m fine thank you, but next time don’t just appear in people’s beds or you’ll scare the heck out of them.” I said. “Sorry about that it’s in my nature to appear out of nowhere and by the way why are you sleeping in your mage outfit?” She asked. “Well I had to do an unexpected mission last night.” I said.

She grasps my arms even tighter I winced but she still grasp in excitement. “A mission? That means you’re a full fledged Paladin now?” She asked.

“Umm, yeah.” I said. She let’s go and searched frantically around my room. “Where’s your guardian?” she was disappointed when she saw only spike who is staring at her. “Umm, about that well…” I said. Spike barked three times and we heard a bang outside.

“Verra, did you happen to see a boy in the roof?” I asked nervously.

“Well I think so, and I think Ageroth is playing with him right now.” She said.

“Ageroth what?!” I panicked.

“Oops don’t tell me he’s your guardian!” She asked. “Yes!” I said. Spike barked in agreement.

“Oh my goodness!” Verra shouted.

We ran outside and saw Vincent in his old look dodging the dragon’s enraged attacks. “Wait I’m Innocent I killed no one!” Vincent pleaded, as tried to evade another attack.

“Ageroth stop!” Verra shouted as she ran towards the dragon, while I ran towards Vincent.

Vincent looked at me. “Maria don’t it’s too dangerous” He said.

But I ignored the warning and in time Verra and I stopped them both.

Ageroth made sounds that troubled Vincent. “Ageroth here said your guardian has killed one of his kind.” She said.

“I beg your pardon, I didn’t even saw one in my entire life well, except now at least.” Vincent said in his defense. “But that sword you’re wielding that’s cyclone edge.” She said as the dragon growled. “Verra, Vincent is telling the truth, he ended up with that sword by accident.” I said.

They finally calmed down.

“Sorry about that.” Verra said.

The dragon snorted and I saw Vincent tensed. “What’s wrong Vincent?” I asked. “He called me a low life.” He said.

“Oh, sorry really I am.” Verra replied.

Vincent’s expression lightened up a bit. “Nah it’s ok.” He said.

“Vincent these are my friends, Verra and Ageroth her guardian.” I said.

“Guys this is Vincent my, err… guardian” I said.
