Scene 21: A Broken Promise (Maria)
I ran through bushes and thorns from the plants, but it was hard because it was hard to do all this in a dress, but I saw an enemy patrolling on the bushes ahead I hid behind the tree and I peeked, but to my surprise he glared at my position I retreated and I gasped a little louder than I expected. I stay hidden hoping he was not going near me but I was wrong he suddenly materialized I front of me and he almost hit me with his staff but I dodged it and I tripped him with my staff and casted restrain and he was down, and I bashed him on the head and he was unconscious.
“That was close.” I said.
I looked at my dress and it was not blending so I casted change, I dressed my self in a different color, I wore black hooded leather jacket and black t-shirt, black pants and a cloth to cover my mouth.
I ran again but pausing every time to avoid getting caught. I was almost at the peak but I spotted three shadows ahead.
“I heard that we are finally waking our patron.” One said.
“Yeah it’s a good thing Elise found a human.” The other said.
“Yeah hear him scream, he screams like a pig to a slaughter.” The other said.
My blood boiled and I charged and slide tackled the one nearest the other stepped back in surprised but they pointed there staff on me, but I was quicker. “Deflect” and there staffs flew in the air. I got up and I kicked the other and I took the momentum to flip and I landed on the shoulder of the last one. “Shout on this you jerk.” I didn’t give him time to react and I twisted his neck, and I rolled and got up.
“Thank you Vincent.” I said.
It’s a good thing I still remember the grapples and moves that he taught me in our spare time.
I continued to the steep climb, I climbed step by step until finally after a very high climb, I finally got the top I was exhausted but I pushed on through the woods and more enemies are in them I chanted silently. “Step through the heavens thy brilliant light, through the cosmos I beseech you lend me thy power.” My staff started to light up and I pointed it in the sky. “Step through the heavens. Lunar Barrage!”
A single ray of light shot up the sky and a rain of light pierced through enemies, and I looked again to see if there were more and I saw all of them on the ground so I ran deeper into the forest and I was almost there but more of them are there but I felt a staff behind me. “Got you intruder.” He said, but I twirled and smack him with my staff and he hit the ground hard but the others heard it and looked at my direction.
“Damn I have to fight.” I said.
They formed a circle surrounding me. “Surrender or die.” One said.
“Don’t make me laugh.” I said.
One casted a spell but I lunged at him and he hit the ground, the others fired but I dodged them and countered one got me and held me on my shoulders but I flipped and he was forced to let me go. I landed behind him and hit him on the neck with my staff.
One attack almost got me but I dodged, I casted speed and I lunged at him and he was knocked out, others still coming I raised my staff. “Photon destroyer!” I said and the ray of light blew them in contact, finally they were gone, but I hear Vincent scream and it was just nearby.
The light of the circle glows brighter and finally I saw Vincent in the middle of it, I rushed to his side after I did a quick scan luckily nobody was there but as I looked closely he was like in my dream his black feathered wings his white pants and fangs, blood red eyes and the tattoo on his body I tried to touch him the circle discharged a shock wave that sent me flying and I skidded to the end of the earth bridge. Vincent looked at me. “Maria…” He said, in a weak tone his face was pale and his chin stained in blood as it poured out and mimic the formation of the circle.
