We picked a quest with Maria. Hmm, let's see... since we have a magician, we can now move onto the harder quests.
"How about this?" [Blake]
"Orc extermination quest?" [Angelica]
"Yeah, with this we can also take two side quests, for collecting their weapons and ears." [Blake]
"O-orc?" [Maria]
"Is there a problem?" [Blake]
"No, please go on." [Maria]
There is an orc settlement being established two weeks from here. The settlement, while still small should be dealt with quickly, the orcs breed like rabbits. Once you leave them be, soon a group will go knocking on your door.
I do hope that the orcs here are not like those from what I've read, violating and impregnating women... thank you doujinshi's, now I'll have nightmares...
But the rewards are even better, it's like taking two main quests at the same time.
The three of us set out accompanying a merchant. A two-week travel became three days. The merchant was nice, he even gave us a small reward for helping him ward off some monsters. Unlike the others who are cheeky and creepy, one even said that he'd give me money if I let him touch me.
Our quest took us to a dense forest I really like these kinds of places. In my old world, all I see is skyscrapers and concrete stretching out for miles on end.
Outside the forest we set camp. Blake had gone inside to get some materials.
"We better be wary of orc scouts." [Maria]
"Orcs have scouts?" [Angelica]
"Yes, before expanding their territory they scout the area." [Maria]
"I didn't know that orcs are that smart." [Angelica]
"Orcs are like humans, even though our physical features are different. We have the same societal structure." [Maria]
I've learned a ton from Maria. Her knowledge about orcs is amazing. She said that orc settlements are similar to villages, they follow a chieftain as to a village leader is to ours.
If the orc leader held a large territory, they get the title of orc lord. Their army is called a legion. If they had both land and army, they are called an orc king.
They also know how to make houses, tools, and weapons. They can virtually use all the weapons we have, from bows to siege weapons. But due to their nature, they cannot use magic which is their main weakness.
When Blake, got back we settled down and shared some stories. Maria, was a scholar from a nearby city, as to how she became an adventurer. She said that it was her dream. Then Blake and I told her about our travels and adventures. She really likes listening to our stories, her eyes shining with delight.
Before we slept as per Maria's instructions we put out the fire, it was cold, but the moonlight made visibility ok.
Dawn came...
"Angelica! Maria! Wake up!" [Blake]
"Hmuhh... Blake, it's too early yet." [Angelica]
"Mother, just a few more minutes..." [Maria]
"..." [Blake/Angelica]
Still a little drowsy, I heard the sound of metal clashing from the distance.
Blake and I checked the place while bringing the still sleepy Maria along.
At the meadow, we saw people in clad armor and adventurers fighting a group of orcs. Their numbers are... in the 100's...
"That's?!" [Maria]
Maria, now fully awake after seeing the number of people and orcs battle.
"That orc armor..." [Maria]
We saw the armor that the orcs had worn, it was somehow a little good in quality.
"Do you know something about the orcs Maria?" [Blake]
"Those orcs are scouts from a legion!!" [Maria]
