The wind was cold but the sun warm. The mixture on the skin was nice. I was on my white horse, named "Misha" I got it from my father on my birthday. It was the only thing I had ever gotten from him.
My mother had died many years before him, natural causes. Many would have thought that it would have ruined the family but it did the opposite. My brother and I had never been as close after her death and my father even ate dinner with us. My father was the king. King of the seven nation. As he died my brother and I decided that we would rule together. That way there was always one home to take care of our kingdom.
We had many alliances with the kingdoms and villages near us. Since our fathers dead, I was concerned that they wouldn't be on our side anymore.

"I will ride tomorrow. To Kattegat and horolds kingdom, to see if we are still living in friendship, peace and commitment." My brother turned around, looking away from the maps on his desk. "Do so sister. It's probably for the best to make sure we will not fall into war..." he looked out of the window. "... but take some soldiers with you. Some for protection, even if you can protect yourself and one as a messenger. Is that understood? " I wanted to protest. Telling him I will be fine but I didn't want to start a fight and he had a point. "Yes. "

The wind was blowing through my hair. We rode over fields and in woods, until it was getting late and the sun went down. After 48 hours I could finally see Kattegat.
People were staring at us when we rode near the biggest house. Wich i believed was the house of the king and his sons.
As I went down from Misha people were gathering in a circle around us. Whispering.
"Who is ruling this precious land!?!" I ask to no one.
"We are."
4 young men where coming out of the house. They were all at least one head taller than me. The guy who came to me first had blond hair and a beard and pretty blue eyes. They had all blue eyes as I looked at them.
"With whom do I have this pleasure?" He asked politely but something in his voice made me feel like it was sarcastic.
"The queen of the seven nations." I said with all of my confidence. Everyone's eyes got bigger. "Oh.. welcome." The blond guy in front of me said. Before kneeling down. Everyone did as he. I also went down. All the way, my right knee nearly touched the ground. "And with who am I Talking to?"
He gave me a rather cheeky smile. "Björn... this is Ubbe and Hvitserk.." he pointed to the young men on his right side. ".. and that is Sigurd." He pointed at the much younger looking guy on his left. "These are my brothers and we... oh here he comes. We are five brothers." He looked beside me. I turned around. The people were moving back like they were afraid. Then I saw him. A young man crawling on the ground. He had the most blue eyes of them all and his brown hair was pulled back. We looked at each other until Björn interrupted the moment. "This is Ivar. Our crippled brother. But be aware he can be a little crazy." Björn laugh. I looked back at Ivar. He frowned. I went closer to him and went down. I was sitting on the ground. "Queen. Don't sit on the muddy ground." One of my men said. Taking a step closer.

"If I can drown in blood, I can lay on the ground."

I could see a very small smile on the corner of Ivar lips and I had to smile.
I tipped my head closer to his ear, so nobody else then him could hear me.
"You are the most feared one, aren't you?"
I didn't let him answer. I went up and walked over to Björn. "I would be pleased if I could talk with the one who is taking care of alliances. Wich one of you boys would that be?" I said as fake nice as possible. Wich made, I think it was hvitserk, hide a laugh.
"That would be Ubbe and I. We can go inside." He was on his way to turn around but my words stopped him.
"My horse needs water and my men food. We have been on our way for two days and would be pleased with a warm welcome." He smiled. "Of course. SLAVE! bring food to the soldiers and let the horse rest. And bring some bread and something to drink to the cabin!" He said in a harsh tone probably also to show me that he can be something else then nice too. I went through the crowd with a little head nod to Hvitserk and Sigurd.
