Fire hadn't said much on the way home. She'd kept to herself mostly and dodged all questions, muttering that it wasn't safe to answer yet, whatever that meant. Danny was getting tired of it though. He just wanted to know what was going on.
Phantom started getting extremely overprotective of him as well, but would dodge any questions as to why. If Phantom did answer, it would just be something along the lines of "I haven't seen you in a while", which was ludicrous. Honestly, Danny did appreciate the sentiment, but Phantom had promised not to let his protective instincts interfere with Danny and his life and Phantom was extremely close to crossing that line. With Fire acting dodgy and Phantom acting the way he was, it was starting to irritate him.
"Phantom, why are you acting like this? And if you say it's because I've been gone all day yesterday I will sock you," Danny warned.
Phantom, looking put-out, scratched the back of his head, obviously trying to think of an excuse before giving up with a sigh, "I honestly don't know why Wraith," he said, his shoulders slumping, "I can usually control it, but..." he looked away, "Mom and Dad have been concerned about some threat, and...I just want you to be safe."
Not a total lie, Phantom reasoned. The thing about his parents was a spur of the moment thing, but he did want to keep Danny safe more than anything. Not finding any fault with his words, Danny huffed and gave him a fond smile,
"You realize I can protect myself right? You don't have to treat me like a glass doll or anything."
Phantom smiled back, feeling both relieved and guilty that Danny bought it, "I know Danny, I worry about you sometimes though."
And that was the end of that. Danny merely nudged him lightly with a laugh, "I think the last time we had this conversation it didn't end well for you."
Fire's muscles had tensed at the explanation. She wouldn't look at him and every few minutes she'd straighten up and fake a smile before letting it drop again. Finally, she growled to herself and changed direction, "I'll be in the forest if you need me."
The boys watched her run off, looking bemused, "O-kaaaaay?" They said, looking at each other. Phantom smirked though as he thought of a perfect way to distract the ravenette.
"You know Wraith...your sister's in collage, your parents are either out or in the sound proof lab...Fire's out in the forest..."
Danny glanced at him and deadpanned, "I know what you're doing Phantom; it's not gonna work."
The ghost hummed, walking around Danny and leaning close to his ear; his cold breath on Danny's neck making him shiver, "Are you sure about that my little Golden Wraith?" He purred, "It's been some time since we've had a bit of privacy...I'm sure you miss it, sometimes."
He brushed his lips against Danny's pulse point, causing the blue eyed boy to melt, "F-fine you freaking horn toad," he relented.
Phantom looked around, quickly picked Danny up bridal style, and flew him home faster than bullet.

The wolf girl sighed as she leaned against a tree in the clearing. Fire rested her forehead against her knees with a long sigh, "I have to tell him eventually. I hate lying like that."
Her ears perked up when she heard someone enter the forest, quickly changing back. She looked over warily, listening as the footsteps got closer, but relaxed when she caught Mikey's scent.
"Hey cuz, enjoying the scenery?" He asked as he waved.
Fire gave him a crooked smile as she changed back, "Just trying to clear my head." The wolf sighed as she looked away, "I'm gonna tell Danny what happened after the stuff with Tucker is over."
