I mark up my walls
Events I cannot forget,
Of things that I've done
And of people I've met
It's plain to see,
That I've lost a lot
The good times I forgot
There's things I'd like to erase,
From my past, from time and space
But they've happened already
And I've put up reminders
So I won't repeat myself
Although sometimes to move on with reminders isn't much help
Experience I've gained,
Went through hills and valleys
Rested in a plain
I've been broken, but not damaged
Been used, but not confused
I'm learning as I'm growing
My existence will not be diffused
I've neither the bravery,
Nor the skill
But my reminders give me courage
My experience gives me will
I'll travel the road,
Until I've come to the end
With the bumps and the holes
And the nauseating bends
Some memories may stain
Some passages still uncertain
But what's life without a little rain?S. K. Malcolm
