CHAPTER 4

I opened the gate to the park, spotting three tall figures in the distance kicking a ball back and forth.

I pulled my hair up into a high pony, and shouldered the adidas bag I was carrying that consisted of a water bottle, my phone and a T-shirt in case the one I was wearing got too dirty.

"Hey, the chick from yesterday actually showed up," Harry mused as I joined them, pretending to be impressed.

"What, did you think I would chicken out?" I raised my eyebrows at him, smirking. "You obviously don't know me very well, pretty boy. I could whip you anytime, anyday."

Liam and Niall hooted, and Harry grinned, flashing his pearly whites. "We'll see about that, babe."

"All right, Niall on my team, Liam on yours. I love you, Liam, but I'll need the Irishman on my side for extra luck." I declared. Liam tossed a coin, and Harry was chosen to start the kick-off.

All right, to be fair, as the game got more intense I realized that all of them were pretty dang good at soccer. But to be totally honest, they would never stand a chance against me- four time soccer team championship winner, six-time victor of the One on One Playoffs and ex-captain of my high school soccer team.

At that moment Liam was heading towards his goal, dribbling the ball between his feet. I watched and waited until he kicked it a little too far out-then stole the ball and passed it to Niall, who swiftly kicked it into the goal.

But a few minutes later, I found myself getting a tiny bit distracted by the outline of Harry's chest made visible by the sweaty shirt clinging to his skin. The ball strayed out of my reach and he was quick to swoop in and score.

Hey, any sane girl would have done the same.

"Okay, Har, it's five to two...are you gonna give up now?" I said when Niall called a time out, wiping away the sweat on my forehead but not being able to wipe the grin off my face.

"Not a chance."

"You asked for it..."

*THREE HOURS LATER*

"I must say, Eliabeth, you have very impressive football skills." said Liam, surveying me with a respectful look on his face. After Niall and I had beat the other two, Harry challenged me to a one-on-one game. Which I won.

"It was only by two points." Harry mumbled, his arms crossed. We were sitting in a booth at T.G.I. Friday's, waiting for the waitress to take our order.

"Two points that costed you my dinner," I reminded him with a cheeky grin on my face.

Liam and Niall were cracking up, and Harry shot me a death glare. I blew him a kiss, knowing that it would drive him crazy.

Just then, the waitress arrived, and we all ordered our food. Of course, she recognized the three of them and asked for the usual picture and autograph.

After she left, Harry got up to go to the restroom, and when he came back he looked even more annoyed than before. "Why the sad face, Hazza?" I asked, poking his arm.

"Caroline. She cancelled this weekend's skype session for some last minute meeting or something...Funny, whenever I cancel on her she gives me the silent treatment for a week."

"Cheer up, babe. Mrs. Wrinkles isn't going anywhere, just skype her next week." I said, before realizing that I had called her Mrs. Wrinkles in front of her boyfriend. Smooth, Liz.

Niall was doubled over in laughter, and to my surprise Harry was chuckling, too.

"Don't call her that, Lizzie, she's not that old..."

"She's twice your age."

"So? Age is just a number, maturity is a choice." We all mouthed along, knowing that he'd say that.

"If you're judging age by maturity, that just makes her three or four times your age."

"Whatever." He humphed.

"SOMEONE'S just mad because a girl beat them in soccer," I said, patting him lightly on the head.

"Ha. Ha. Ha. Very funny. But really though...how DID you do it? Everyone knows I'm the only football beast around here." He remarked with a small grin.

"Well, I'd love to explain but long story short...IMMA NINJA!" I said, using karate arms, knocking over my glass of water.

Niall and Harry laughed at my idiocy, and the sight of them made me giggle. Liam finally got someone to clean up the mess, shaking his head at us. Well, mainly me.

***

Later that night, the boys dropped me off in front of my house. Harry climbed out of the car to walk me up to the door.

For some odd reason I felt the nerves kick in...I remembered that in all of the cliche movies, whenever the guy walked the girl to her door he almost always kissed her goodnight. Wait, what? Was I expecting Harry to...hah hah...no. I refused to think about it. I'd only known him for a day. And he had a girlfriend.

"Hey, I had a good time tonight, even if you DID beat my ass." Harry said with a lopsided grin when we reached my patio. I shrugged.

"Yeah, me too. You're cool for a world famous popstar."

"I'd like to think so."

"So...when are you going back to the UK?" I asked. I'd only known Harry for a day, but I couldn't help feeling sad thinking about him leaving.

"Three or four weeks. Don't worry, I'll make sure to see you again soon, Liz." He said, making his way down the porch steps. "You know, I'd say you're pretty cute for an American girl."

"I'd like to think so." I said, mimicking his words. "I'd say you're pretty cute for a British boy."

He just smiled. "Night, Lizzie."

"Good night, Harry."
