Star Wars the Clone Wars: The Third Generation Meets the Past

Counterattack [Pt. 2]

The battle droids continued leading Artoo into the Citadel with their blasters pointed at him. When the blast doors closed behind them. Artoo beeped and rammed into one of the battle droids. "Sorry, Commander. Just wanted to fool them. What are your orders," said the battle droid. Artoo spoke to him in a series of beeps and the droid responded, "You're right. If we're not at the shuttle, General Kenobi could be walking into a trap. We'll try to locate them if they get captured."

Meanwhile, Ahsoka, Rex, and Tarkin were still staring at the dead end they had run into. One of the clones behind them heard footsteps and looked back around the corner to see a super battle droid start shooting at them. "Look out!" he yelled as he ducked for cover and pulled out his blasters. Ahsoka immediately turned around and ignited her lightsaber. The clones shot at the droids at the same time Ahsoka deflected the laser blasts which bounced back to the droid and shot himself over the edge of the cliff.

However, two more super battle droids were already advancing on them. Just then, Anakin and Rey jumped down from the ledge they were perched on and ignited their lightsaber and cut the droids down. Then more droids came from nowhere and began to close in on the Jedi and the clones. Anakin and Rey quickly closed rank with the others. "What happened? Why didn't you blow the wall? That part of the plan was your job," Anakin yelled at Ahsoka. The droids stood in front of the clones and the Jedi and began to fire at them. The clones fired their blasters as well as the Jedi deflected the droids laser blasts.

"I thought it was a dead end," Ahsoka argued. "If Master Plo really assigned you to this mission, he would have briefed you on the plan," Anakin countered. Anakin shot Rey a glare of anger and all she did in response was roll her eyes. Ahsoka quickly grabbed a handful of charges out of one of the clones packs and ran to the dead end and placed most of them on the wall. She then ran back to where Anakin and Rey were trying to hold off the droids and rolled two bombs under the droids and detonated them. Just as they exploded everyone ducked for cover. Then the wall exploded and everyone continued to brace themselves.

When the dust settled everyone stood and walked towards the new hole in the wall. As Ahsoka walked passed Anakin, he slightly glared at her. Rey appeared next to him and said, "Don't be too upset with her. I did lie for her as well." Anakin turned to her and replied, "I'm not upset with you, I'm just slightly disappointed in you; both of you." He then walked away and she followed.

In the ventilation ducts Obi-Wan and his team spotted the shuttle but could find no sign of the droids. "The shuttle's there. No sign of the Artoo," Cody pointed out. "Something might have happened. We'll have to make our way around to the other side and get a different view. This could be a trap," Obi-Wan suggested. Master Piell blew shaft door off the air ducts, while Obi-Wan got a grappling gun out of one of the clones packs and attached one end to the inside of the vent and then he held onto the other end and propelled down out of the shaft. He landed on a ledge and signaled the others to come down. Piell was the last one out of the shaft. Obi-Wan led the group and Piell took up the rear.

When they finally got where they needed to be, Obi-Wan helped the clones get off the ledge and onto the platform of the the landing field. Obi-Wan turned on his com-link and tried to message Anakin. However, the voice that responded was not that of his former apprentice. "I must commend you on your escape tactics, but in the end, it was easy to predict your every move," Sobeck said from the command center looking at Obi-Wan and his team on the surveillance camera footage. It was then that Obi-Wan realized that this was the trap and not moving toward the shuttle.

Out of nowhere, droids came from every direction and surrounded Obi-Wan and his group.

Back in the tunnels, Ahsoka, Anakin, and Rey were leading the others as quietly as possible. Ahsoka ran in front of Rey and Anakin to scout ahead for a pipe. When she found it Anakin and the others had caught up to her. "This pipe leads up to the top of the ridge where Artoo will pick us up and get us out of here. There's the hatch," Anakin stated. He walked over to the pipe and opened the hatch door. When it opened completely everyone was forced to cover their noses, as a rank and foul odorous gas came flooding out. "Let's go, let's go. Everyone in," Anakin ordered. "We are going to need twenty showers after this mission," Rey gagged.
