Chapter 20 [Again?]

Ikeri POV

"Shall we get going?"

"Yeah."

'This might be the last time I saw the gates of konoha.' I thought to myself as we ran into the woods.

The view of the gates got further and further.

"You sure you ain't going to miss this place?" Kisame said.

I looked back, the gate was vanishing from our view.

"No. In fact, I'm sure I'm going to miss it."

Kisame laughed. "You're a surprise."

With that my journey outside Konoha resumes once more. It lasted, until one fine day.

"Ikeri. Leader summons you." Papa came.

"Okay, I'll be right back." I said, heading over immediately.

We don't want to keep Leader waiting do we?

"Leader." I greeted as I entered his workplace.

He was sitting on his usual chair with Konan standing beside him.

Konan handed a ring over to me. I immediately recognise the ring. It used to be Orochimaru's. I went on a mission to retrieve it from him. After that I never saw the ring again.

"Why are you giving this to me?" I asked.

"So you can find your way back here. I want you to go back to Konoha and keep an eye on the nine-tails, make sure he doesn't get himself killed." Leader said.

"Can I ask for a favour in return?"

He's asking me to leave papa when Sasuke can come and kill him anytime now?

"Speak."

"This ring. Notify me when Sasuke comes for Papa. If you promise to do that, I'll go."

Leader didn't speak for awhile. Most probably considering my conditions. They did say that they wouldn't bother with our outside lives. Sasuke and papa are considered outside life so he must be hesitating.

"Alright." He finally said.

I slid the blue ring onto my left little finger. Something was different. I could pinpoint where the hideouts were, even the location of everyone else who we're wearing the ring.

"Now go. You're dismissed." Leader said.

Just as I was about to step out of the door. He said something again.

"Good luck."

"Thank you." I said with my back facing him as I walked out.

It's rare for leader to be nice to someone. In fact, I've heard that no one that fought against leader ever lost. He was a cold-hearted person through and through.

"Kisame, you and papa are going on the mission alone. Leader's orders." I said.

Just awhile ago, we received a mission to make some money. But I guess I can't go now can I?

I ran towards papa and gave him a hug.

"Sorry. I'm leaving again. Don't die, I'll come to your rescue. You don't deserve to get killed by him. He knows nothing." I said without letting go.

"It's better and safer for you to be at konoha anyways. Take care, my little Ikeri." He said rubbing my head as I got out of his arms.

"See you, I love you papa." I said, my eyes full of tears.

"Take care, love you." Papa said, kissing my forehead before I teleported away.

"Tsunade." I greeted.

I arrived at her office, suprised to see that Naruto, Sakura and Kakashi were there as well.

"Ikeri? What're you doing here?" Tsunade said, immediately shooting up from her seat.

"Ikeri?!" Sakura and Naruto yelled as they glared.

Kakashi just looked over with a perfectly calm expression, but you could tell that he was shocked as well.

"Is that any way of welcoming?" I joked with Tsunade.

"Sorry."

"Why do we need to welcome a traitor like you? You let Sasuke leave and didn't even try to stop him! Instead you left the village right after him!" Naruto yelled.

"I agree!" Sakura said.

"Naruto! Sakura!" Tsunade yelled, glaring at them.

Just as Tsunade was about to explain, Jiraiya came.

"Oh? Ikeri. You came back eh?"

"Well of course."

Naruto looked over at Jiraiya, wide-eyed. "Pervy-sage! Why do you talk to her as if she's one of us?!"

"Because she is one of us." Tsunade cut in. "Keep this between us, she's been giving us update on the akatsuki. I won't say that she's completely innocent but she's proved trustable."

"Of course. But I wouldn't expect you to trust me that much. It doesn't matter whether you do or not. I'm here on a mission for the Akatsuki."

Jiraiya immediately raised his guard and jumped in front of Naruto.

"But not to worry, my mission isn't to get it but to make sure it stays alive. Leader said that he feels that Naruto is going to get himself into a lot of trouble and might die and well we don't need him dying on us now do we?"

"That's right. Kakashi, where's Pakkun?"

"At home. You can look for him later after you settle things here."

'Right. This is going to be troublesome.' I thought to myself as I looked over.

We have a furious Naruto and a irritated Sakura.

"Ikeri has been sending us updates on the Akatsuki's actions while she was with them." Lady Tsunade spoke up for me.

Naruto and Sakura still looked mad but they restrained themselves from showing it.

Ignoring those two, Tsunade spoke again. "Ikeri. Would you join them for their test to determine status?"

"That depends. Am I fighting against them or with them?" I said.

Fighting with them would be a problem, knowing the fact that they don't even trust me.

After waiting for awhile, I didn't receive an answer. She was going to let me fight alongside with them but she must've read the situation as well.

"I'm not going to fight, it's a waste of time." I said, taking my leave.
