~Iris's POV~ *Time skip to a month later*
It's been a month since Shanzi sent someone to assassinate me, it's also been a month since I've visitedmy family's grave. Adrien has been very protective of me since that day, he's always around me; I'm not minding the attention. Just wish he would send more time with his friends. So far, I've taken the class to the Cave and showed them my history, my kingdom's history. They were all astonished in see by the history. I've also taken them to the Valley of the Kings, where my ancestors lay, it's still well in my kingdom, so I don't have to worry about bandits and the Eastern Kingdom making a fuss.
Today, my uncle is taking them to another village, while Malik and I stay at the Palace for meetings. Malik has been adopted into the family, so he is a part of me now.
Adrien didn't want to leave me, but I convinced him to go and that I'll be fine; the palace's security has tripled since the strange man somehow got into my home. Malik and I are in the throne room, waiting for the Priest to return.
I look down at the young boy and see Atem in him. His bright amethyst eyes and dirty blond hair, his gentle smile. He'll make a great ruler if anything happens to me before I marry. I remember that my seventeenth birthday is in November. Now, I know what the Priest is doing. He's finding a suitor for me. I make a mental note to talk to Adrien about this: marrying me. I don't want to take him away from the world he was born into. I look down at my hand, where the promise ring sits on my finger. One day, we will marry. His voice lingers in my mind. That one day just might be sooner than you expected, Adrien.
The doors open and the Priest walks in with a man. I groan and pinch my nose.
"Your highness, this is Prince Husani, heir to the Eastern Kingdom."
His almost black eyes vote into my gold ones. His glossy black hair falls around his shoulders. He is quite lean for his age. He looks so familiar, as if I've seen him before. My mind is set on one man, Adrien Agreste.
Husani bows and says, "it is my great pleasure to be in the presence of the famous Princess Iris of the Southern Territory." He smirks.
I have a bad feeling about this man. I leave my throne with Malik right behind me and I stand before him.
"Let's go for a walk, shall we?" I suggest. I need to find out more about this prince.
We wall out into the gardens with Malik running around trying to catch a butterfly.
This awkward tension between is suffocating. But that's only because I am loyal to my lover, Adrien.
"I'm sorry for your loss, Princess. I know it's hard to lose family. Especially in one night. I had lost my family in a fire. We were visiting a village to see how we could help, and a fire set aflame and my parents and sisters had perished in it." His voice is so familiar, it's deep and velvety.
"Thank you for your condolences, Princess Husani. Yes, it's hard to deal with the grief, but I cannot sit back and not take care of my people. I must carry on my family's legacy. It's what my mother and father would've wanted from me as Queen." I say in a monotone.
I watch Malik play with a butterfly, I feel Husani's hand on my hip. I push away and look at him in shock.
"Do not touch me, I don't care who you are and what your intentions are with me. You will not touch me." I snarl at him.
He chuckles and pulls me into his chest. "Feistyaren't we?" He kisses my neck.
Anger starts fuming inside of me, and I can feel my claws growing sharp along with my canine teeth. I shove him away and growl.
"I said don't touch me!" I yell at him.
He continues to chuckle and try to pin me down on the grass. "You will marry me, and you will be my Queen."
I growl and feel myself grow into a large wolf, I shale him off of me and get on my four feet and stand by Malik, protecting him. In the corner of my eye, I can see the whole class watching the scene unfold.
I focus back on Husani, growl and prepare to attack him. My claws dig into the grass, my teeth baring at him, and my fur tingling with anger. I lunge at him and bite--hard--on his arm; blood spills onto my muzzle as I press my claws deep into his shoulder, making it bleed immensely.
I can hear Adrien calling my name, two guards take away my prey and Adrien steps forward with his hand out. Is he asking to get biten? I growl.
"Iris, it's me, Adrien."
I know who you are, I'm not stupid. I bare my teeth at him. My ear droop in anger; Alya takes Malik away, as Adrien tries to calm me down. I look to see the Priest's face covered in fear and shock. That's when I start to whimper.
I lay down and whimper some more as Adrien pets me behind my left ear.
"It's okay, Iris, no one is going to hurt you. It's okay." He says over and over, calming me down.
My uncle drapes a cloak over me and I can feel my body shrink and my hair turns back to raven black. I shiver and feel arms lift me up off the ground.
Adrien's eyes stare into mine as he takes me to our bedroom. Setting me onto my bed, he grabs a shirt of his and a pair of shorts. He dresses me and lays me down.
"I'll never leave you again, baby." He whispers as he caresses my cheek.
"I love you, Iris."
"I love you, too, Adrien." I yawn and feel his lip touch my forehead lightly.
I fall asleep in his warm, strong, comforting arms.
