Today is the day Shanzi receives his sentence in front of the village. I put this on:
And go to the dining hall to greet the others. Everyone stares at me as I walk in and take an apple. I go to the balcony and watch my people prepare for the execution. Malik pulls on my cloak.
"Princess, is the bad man gonna pay for what he did?" He's so innocent.
I smile and pet his hair. "Yes, young one. Today he will pay for all the bad things he's done."
I give him my apple and he giggles, running off to play with Alya and Marinette. Adrien comes up to me and begs me with his eyes to not go through with this. I shake my head.
"It's already settled. He dies today." I whisper. Looking at the rest of the group, "Everyone, get ready. We leave in a hour. Mahna, take Malik and watch over him. Make sure he doesn't leave these walls." I say in a stern voice.
She nods and takes Malik's hand. An hour later, everyone is gathered at the gate. The prisoner in custody behind my guards, and I'm on a solid black horse with gold threading through its mane. The class is beside me as we stroll through the gate and into the village. We go to the outskirts of the large city and I turn the horse around to face Shanzi.
"You are hereby executed for your crimes against my father's name. The assassination of my brother, Prince Atemu, my mother Queen Chione, and my father King Bakari. The attempted assassination of the Princess, and attempt kidnapping of the Princess. All in which you must be beheaded for your sins." I state. I snap my fingers to have him put on the concrete slate and tied down securely.
"Iris, it's never too late--" Adrien starts.
"Silence! Judgment has been made." I glare at Shanzi.
Then, a brown, bag is placed on his head as the guard prepares to slice through his neck. I smirk and watch as the blade makes a wonderful clean cut. Blood is spilled against the hot sand; I turn toward my people.
"Shanzi is no more! He will no longer torment us, or steal from us! He's finally dead!" The people cheer, but the class stares in horror as I ride off to the Palace.
Once they're at the Palace, I am sitting in the throne room, watching the servants decorate the room with lively colors, the class walks into the room as a group.
I smile. "I see, you've finally made it back. I thought I was going to have to send a search party after you." I chuckle.
Adrien speaks first, "Iris, this isn't like you. You don't kill. You're not a murderer."
"Oh, I know I'm not. But that is how we handle criminals such as the former King of Thieves. Exile just simply wasn't enough for his crimes. Death was more suitable, you would see it that way too if you understood what I had gone through. I lost my entire family to that man. My brother, my mother and father! I had to do everything on my own! I had to teach myself to be a good Queen for my people! I had to sacrifice my own life to capture that man and sentence him to death! I lost everything when he killed my family. When they died, I died with them!!" I yell.
I go to the balcony, tears streaming down my face. "I have no one to guide me to be a suitable Queen. All I have is myself. If you can't understand that, "I turn around with tears in my eyes, "then you can all go back to Paris. I have a kingdom to protect. I have nothing to go back to in France." I clench my fists.
They all look at me astonished. I run to my room and throw myself onto my bed.
Fang flies to me. "Are you really giving up your Miraculous?"
I sniffle, "I don't know, Fang. Maybe it's for the best. I have to stay here and protect my people." I hug him tightly. "I'll miss you so much, Fang." I cry.
"I'll miss you, too." Then he disappears. I take off the Miraculous and put it in Adrien's bag.
Am I doing the right thing? I hope to Ra I am.
