he class leaves today, and Adrien is going with them. I stay in my room, as an empty feeling overcomes me; salty rivers fall as I wish to go with them, but I know that I can't leave my kingdom for selfish reasons. As much as I want to go with them, something is holding me back. What is this feeling? I don't understand.
*time skip to 4 months, a week before school dance* ~Adrien's POV~
Iris stayed in Egypt, I wanted her to come back, but she didn't and she won't. It's a week before the school dance, Marinette and I are going together--she seems oddly happier now that Iris isn't here.
My father is fixing my suit for the dance, I don't understand him, after Iris came around, he's been acting more like a parent than he has before. It's strange but refreshing. My suit is dark blue with a black tie, specially made for me, according to my father. I wanted to go with Iris, but she's still in Egypt and won't be returning here.
I returned to public school after I got back from that dangerous heat of Egypt. Seeing all of my friends again is a great feeling. But, I still miss Iris. I still love her with everything I have.
~Iris's POV~
I've finished packing up my things and my uncle is taking them to the plane. I'm leaving my uncle in charge of the kingdom, but I promised that once I'm ready, I'll come home again. Malik is crying, sad that I'm leaving. I wish I could take him with me, he misses Adrien and the others. They always played with him, made me happy to see that. As much as it hurt to me to leave my kingdom once again, I know this is the right thing. I'm coming home, Adrien. And, we'll fix us.
The flight to Paris is painfully long and silent. Once the plane lands and I'm off, I see Gorilla with Mr. Agreste, he's smiling as if to welcome home a daughter he never had. I run to him and hug him tightly.
"I'm home," I whisper. I made it just in time. Today is the school dance and only Adrien's father and Gorilla know about my return home.
He chuckles, "welcome back, Iris. It's good to see you." I look up at him, and he's actually smiling at me.
We get into the car and go to the house, I unpack my room and see the small black and red box again. I smile and put on the necklace and Fang appears, his eyes widen and he hugs me.
"I knew you would come back. I just knew it!" He exclaims, happily.
I giggle. "Let's just hope Adrien will be happy with me as well." I play with the promise ring he gave me a while ago.
I sit on the steps and wait for Adrien to come home from school. My nerves are in full attack mode and are eating at my brain; anxiety kicks in and I bite my lip nervously. After a few more hours, the door opens and I see a head of blond hair. I run up to him and hug him tightly.
"I-Iris?!" He says, shocked.
"I'm home," I say, hiding my face into his necks, feeling his arms slip around my waist. " I'm sorry for not coming home sooner. I won't ever do that again." I start to cry.
He chuckles, "baby, I'm not mad at you. I still love you. Always remember?" He pulls away slightly and looks into my golden eyes. He tucks a loose strand of hair back into its place. "Still so beautiful. "
I blush and he leans in to kiss me. I close the distance and finally, after so many months of being apart, he's here in my arms kissing me again.
I pull away and just stare into his deep emerald green eyes.
It's time to get ready for the dance, I go to Mr. Agreste and he said that he has the perfect dress for me.
I get ready, making sure that I have the Miraculous on, and my promise ring on as well. I go down to the foyer and see Adrien looking like a Prince; his blond hair slicked back, his dark blue suit, and his dazzling smile. I blush when he winks at me, then he takes my hand and he opens the front door. We hop into the limo and we ride to the school, his hand entwined with mine--a perfect fit.
I see Alya and Nino wait by their usual spot with Marinette, she's wearing a red and black polka-dotted dress with a sweetheart neckline. The limo stops, Adrien gets out and offers his hand to me, I gladly accept and step into the modern world once again.
Marinette's mouth is gaped open as Adrien and I stride over to Alya and Nino. I hug Alya as Adrien fist pumps Nino; Marinette storms over to me and glares at me and Adrien.
"Adrien, I thought we were going to go to the dance together." She says, flirtatiously.
I growl. Adrien squeezes my hand.
"Well, Iris came back and I wanted to go with her originally. Sorry, Marinette." He shrugs and we go into the school. The strobe lights dancing over all of us and the music is quite loud, we go over to the punch bowl and he grabs me a drink. I take a sip, it's fruity, sweet yet tangy.
"Would you like to dance, my Queen?" He bows.
"I'd be honored to, my King." I smile and dance the night away.
The experience is not like anything I've witnessed back in Egypt. This is way more fun, Adrien and I dance all night until our curfew, sneaking in a few kisses here and there. Gorilla comes to pick us up and take a us home. I fall asleep on Adrien's shoulder and I can feel him carry me to his bedrrom. Oh, how I love this man. He's becoming a strong, independent, wonderful, loving man I will forever love.
