Chapter Two - Leave Me Alone
A Few Days After Grant's Birthday
"Thea, sweetie. Alyssa and Grant are here." I heard my mom say softly on the other side of the door.
"Tell them to go home. I don't feel well." I sighed
"Sweetie, it's been a couple days and you refuse to come out. Please just let them in and if you don't want them there anymore just tell them or scream and I'll come and send them home." My mom said.
"No, send them home already. I don't feel well. Please mom, leave me alone." I stated.
I got up and dragged myself to my bathroom. I looked at the mirror to see a girl with bags under her eye, bloodshot eyes, a messy bun, and tear stained cheeks.
Yesterday night was tough. I kept waking up and crying. Then my thoughts got into the mix which made me pretty depressed. I basically got zero sleep.
"Thea Rose Montgomery, open this door or I will knock it down myself."Alyssa yelled. "Or with a bit of help from Grant."
I knew Alyssa was going to keep her word... I mean the girl always does. I grabbed a quick outfit from my drawer and made my way into my bathroom with my hairbrush, outfit, and makeup. I took a quick shower and dried my hair. I then put on some light makeup just to cover my bags.
After I put on black jeans with a grey tank top and a blue button up over it with my red converse and grey beanie. I cleaned up the bathroom and made my way back into my room just in time to see Alyssa opening my door with a fork in her hand.
"I'm not even going to ask." I mumbled and sat on my desk chair.
"You don't look as bad as your mom was telling me." Alyssa questioned.
"Thanks mom." I mumbled again.
"She's just trying to help you out." Alyssa smiled lightly.
"She could've helped me out by not letting you inside." I mumbled.
"You don't want me to help you either. Fine." Alyssa rolled her eyes at me.
She walked outside of my room. I stood up and walked near the doorway when I heard.
"She doesn't want me in there. Do something, Grant. Maybe she'll listen to you and actually come out of that room or open a curtain because it's dark in there." Alyssa complained.
I quickly closed my door and locked it.
"What the-" I heard Grant say.
"Damn it." I heard Alyssa say. "I left the key to her room in there."
"There's a key to my room. Why don't I have it?" I thought.
I looked around and saw on my vanity that there was one key on there. I grabbed it and put it in my purse so that no one would grab it again.
"Thea, let me in. Please." I heard Grant say softly.
"Please just leave, Grant." I said and slid down the door so I was leaning against it.
"I'm not leaving you like this." Grant replied. "I told you yesterday that you mean a lot to me. I meant that too. So if I have to stay here all day then I will. I just want to be there for you when you're going through rough times."
"You mean it." I softly said.
"Every word." Grant said. "I swear."
I unlocked the door and slowly opened it. I creaked my head out to see Grant sitting on the floor and looking up at me.
"Why are you on the floor?" I questioned.
"I was getting prepared to wait all day until you opened the door which was faster than I expected." Grant smiled.
I grabbed his hand and dragged him into my room then closed the door again.
"Sit." I stated and sat on my desk chair.
Grant sat down on my bed and grabbed one of the many pillows on my bed and put it on his lap then leaned forward.
"So what's wrong?" Grant asked.
"Honestly nothing... I just wasn't feeling it today." I shrugged and looked away from him.
"You can confine in Professor Thompson. I'm a certified therapist." Grant smiled and grabbed his sunglasses and put them on.
"Then, where's your degree?" I questioned and smirked.
"Umm." He looked around and saw my whiteboard and on it he wrote "Certified PhD of Psychology for Grant Thompson (aka the awesome friend)" .
"I wouldn't go as far to say that you're awesome." I shrugged and said sarcastically.
"Oh whatever. I know I'm awesome." He smile but then suddenly frowned.
"What's up?" I asked noticing his sudden change in mood.
"Remember the night of my birthday." He asked.
"Yeah... I do." I mumbled and looked down at my shoes.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Grant asked nervously.
"I really don't want to talk about Nathaniel being an asshole at your party which was completely rude of him." I sighed.
"You must be really mad if you're calling him by his first name." Grant chuckled lightly. "But I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about our almost kiss."
"Oh that." I mumbled.
"I'm sorry if I overstepped any boundaries on our friendship." Grant began to say. "It was just in the moment and you did look very beautiful that day but that's like every other day too and I don't know."
"Grant, it's fine really. You're supposed to be my best friend yet you suck at seeing how I feel." I chuckled. "I like you... and I've literally wondered for awhile now if we could ever be more than just friends."
"Well then this works out for both of us, doesn't it?" He smiled and stood up. "Because you obviously know now that I like you too."
I smiled and stood up to grab my phone from my desk. Before I could pass Grant, he grabbed my wrist and turned me around so that I was facing him. He let go of my wrist and put his hand on my cheek.
We slowly leaned towards each other and our lips eventually began to move in sync with each other.
Do you know how everyone always talks about feeling that spark when you kiss someone you really love or like? Well, that's what I felt in this moment.
It was nice, soft yet passionate and loving. I love every second of it.
We both pulled away while leaning our foreheads against each other.
"Thea Rose Montgomery, will you be my girlfriend?"
