Chapter Seven - Shawn Mendes
It was finally the next day but it was sadly Monday morning which meant I had work.
I dressed in my black ripped jeans and a normal black crop top tee. I put on my white slip on vans and then grabbed my keys, phone and wallet and put them in my bag.
I walked downstairs and wrote another note to my mom saying that I'm out working. I stuck it to the fridge and quickly walked outside. I was already running a bit late considering I had to drive all the way to Santa Monica.
I entered my car and quickly got out of the driveway and onto the freeway.
You see my job may be a bit boring but it's in Island Records. Yeah, whatever I'm just an assistant but I get to meet all these amazing celebrities.
So, I didn't really mind getting coffee and finding applications or answering phone calls. Because at the end of it all, I met a really cool celebrity. His name is Shawn Mendes. He's a year older than me and the dude is beyond popular.
That's not really what I see him for tho. I see him as this genuine guy who I happen to work with. I help him record some songs sometimes when I'm on break or I'll just help him remember song lyrics by singing along with him.
He's actually one of the only friends I have at Island Records. No one really bothers to be friends with an assistant besides Shawn.
After the hour and a half later, I run inside the office with four different Starbucks drinks in my hand.
"Ms.Banner, here is your decaf vanilla ice coffee." I smiled and handed my boss her drink.
"Don't be late next time. I can't keep covering for you." She chuckled and took the drink.
"Vanessa, here is your simple vanilla latte." I chuckled. Vanessa was the other assistant here. We were sorta friends but only in the office other than that we didn't really talk.
I went up to the fifth floor and opened the second recording booth on the floor. I entered and saw Shawn sitting on the couch and writing in his song book with his guitar in hand.
"Hey, Mendes." I smiled and sat down next to him.
"You seem smiley today. What's up?" Shawn chuckled.
"Well first, here is your hazelnut coffee with soy milk and a dash of cinnamon." I smiled proudly and handed him his drink.
I took out my drink (which was the same as Shawn's drink) from the cup-holder and threw the cup-holder into the trash can.
"Alright, spill." Shawn gave me a knowingly look and put his book and guitar aside.
"Grant and I are officially together." I blushed.
"It's about time. You've been talking about him for the longest." Shawn chuckled and took a sip from his drink.
"Yeah, well he finally did something about it but..." I sighed.
"But what?" Shawn questioned.
"Nathaniel. He hates Grant. How is this relationship ever going to work out if my brother is always arguing with him every time Grant comes over?" I let out an agitated sigh and laid down on the couch.
