Chapter Nineteen - Golden Locket
I was sitting in my desk with a smile on my face. Yeah, everything around me has been crap but at least I got one thing out of the way.
"What has got you so happy?" My co-worker, Vanessa chuckled.
"I was accepted into New York University and I'm going. Also, Island Records promised me an office over there so I'm sorta getting a promotion I guess." I chuckled.
"Good job. It's going to be quite lonely without you here. Plus, it means I'm going to have to deal with a rookie when you leave." Vanessa sighed.
"Oh good luck." I laughed.
"Oh shut your mouth." Vanessa said and threw a piece of paper at me.
"Okay I'm done." I chuckled.
"You better." She laughed and continued her work.
"So, you're on your way soon." Shawn smiled softly.
"Yeah." I said and stood up.
We both walked up in silence to the studio we always hang out in. We sat down and I looked at Shawn.
"I'm happy for you. Don't take this look the wrong way. It's just I'm going to miss my best friend." Shawn smiled softly at me and nudged me a little.
"You can always come visit. Hopefully everyday." I chuckled lightly.
"Dude, I don't care how small your apartment may be. Let's be roommates." Shawn joked around.
"I'll sleep on the floor if I have to." I chuckled and joked along.
"At least we'll have the memories of moments like these." Shawn smiled softly.
"Don't say that like this is the last time I'll see. We'll stay in touch. I'll be working at the Island Records over in New York and you can always come here for 'work' but really it'd be for me." I chuckled lightly and nudged him slightly.
"I was going to give this to you for your birthday which is like a month from now but consider it a going away present instead." Shawn said and went into the studio closet and grabbed a box that was wrapped up perfectly which was probably his assistant's doing.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Find out yourself. I'm not going to ruin the surprise." Shawn chuckled and handed me the box.
I slowly opened it and inside was another wrapped gift with a smaller box that was wrapped as well.
I grabbed the first wrapped item which was larger than the smaller box.
I opened in and inside was the photo of when we had first met. I was actually a semi-big fangirl of Shawn so when I met him. I naturally asked him to take a photo with me and since we were both awkward teens, we looked so funny standing like a feet away from each other and forcing a smile.
"Oh my.. I remember this." I smiled and wanting to tear up but kept it in.
"That was really awkward for me. You were like one of the few people who felt just as awkward as I did." Shawn chuckled.
