Chapter Twenty Four - Time Change
I got home in a better mood than I was earlier. It felt nice to clear things off my chest and just have fun with a friend.
I walked inside quietly and saw Nathaniel asleep on the couch. I quietly and slowly placed my heels on the first step in the stairs and walked towards him.
I grabbed a blanket from the cabinet under the stairs and placed it slowly over him. Before I could leave to go upstairs, I felt a hand hold on to my wrist softly.
"Is that you, Thea?" Nate mumbled groggily.
"Yeah." I whispered and smiled. "Go back to sleep."
"I was worried and waited. I'm glad you're home safety." Nate mumbled.
"I'm okay. Get some sleep." I said and quietly and slowly took my wrist out of his hand. I slightly jogged back to the steps and grabbed my heels.
I went upstairs and locked my door. I knew I was heading for another sleepless night so I began to finish boxing up my room.
Once I had finished, I took a shower and changed into black nike shorts and a black adidas tank top. I slid on my white vans and then began to clean my dirty laundry. While I waited, I checked my email. I saw I had a message from Island Records. I opened it and it read:
Dear Ms.Montgomery,
We would like you to come a week earlier than expected so that we can tell and teach you about what you'll be doing here in our building. We also want to see the talented Thea Montgomery that we've heard so much about. Everyone in our staff is very impressed by you so hopefully you are as amazing as you sound. We'll see you in a few days.
Sincerely,
The Island Records Staff"I guess I'm leaving earlier than expected." I thought.
This was not good. I went to my flight account and checked what date my flight had changed to since Island Records was in charge of it. I read it and it said:
LAX to JFK In New York. Boarding Room 2A. Seat: First Class A1. Boarding at 6:00am. On Wednesday, June 18th.
That was two days from now. Monday, Tuesday and then that Wednesday morning, I'm leaving.
I quickly grabbed my phone and checked the time. It said 4:45am. At this point, I don't care if he's sleeping though. I need to call him.
I dialed Johnson but it went straight to voicemail. I called again and it did it again. I called a third time and decided to leave a voicemail this time.
"Hey call me when you get this. It's important. They changed my flight time and day. I'm leaving on Wednesday. Please answer Jack, I really need to talk to you." I said in the phone and then hung up and sent the voicemail.
I began to pace around my room. Ugh how can they change my flight. I just wanted to spend a few more days with my friends but now I'll be leaving in two days and Shawn is upset with me and Jack won't answer my calls. I messed up badly now.
I grabbed my keys and ran downstairs while still in my shorts and tank top. I walked outside and locked my door than made my way to my car. As I got in my car and was driving towards Johnson's house, I began to remember the conversation that Hailee and I had.
