Chapter Nine - Date Night

I woke up the next morning in an exhausted state. I needed another nap but I needed to get my car. I checked the car and I was already an hour late.

I quickly took a shower and changed into black shorts and a white crop top baseball tee with my black converse. I put my hair in a high ponytail and grabbed my black bomber jacket and my bag with all my necessities inside.

I ran to Nathaniel's room and began knocking on his door.

"Jeez, what do you want woman?" He scowled with droopy eyes.

"I need a ride to work." I quickly said

"Why? What about your car?" He questioned.

"I left it parked at work. My friend picked me up and dropped me off because I was way too tired to drive. Now hurry up because I'm already late." I quickly said again.

"Fine." He sighed and grabbed his keys.

We both rushed outside and got into his car. He drove dangerously quick but we stopped by and got the same coffee orders that I usually get and then by the time I made it to work, I was about two hours late.

"I'm in trouble, aren't I?" I asked Vanessa as I handed her regular coffee order to her.

"Actually, no you're lucky. Ms.Banner called in sick." Vanessa gave me a knowing look.

"Oh thank god." I sighed and sat in my chair. I opened the mini fridge that I had under my desk and put her coffee inside for tomorrow so I could just heat it up.

"It's an easy day today. Just answering phone calls and leaving messages." Vanessa shrugged.

"Okay well I'm going to give Shawn his daily dose of coffee. I'll be back and start answering some calls." I said and grabbed his coffee and my coffee and began walking to the same recording studio, he's always in

I knocked and walked in to see Shawn deeply in his writing. I quietly closed the door and then cleared my throat to get his attention.

"You're two hours late." Shawn mumbled and continued writing.

"I know. I'm sorry." I quickly said and put his coffee on the coffee table. "I had a long day yesterday and got little sleep."

"With Grant?" He asked and wiggled his eyebrows at me.

"Oh my..." I chuckled and nudged him a little. "But if you had to know. It was not Grant. It was a friend of mine. He took me to the Santa Monica Pier since I've never been there." I smiled.

"Woah. Hold up. Someone other than Grant is making you smile really widely." Shawn said and looked up from his writing.

"Don't take that out of context. I'm in a relationship. I'm taken." I said in a stern tone.

"But what if you weren't dating, then what would you and mystery guy be doing?" Shawn wiggled his eyebrows again.

"Stop, that's freaking me out." I chuckled. "And we would be doing nothing because I still am in a relationship."
