We made our way down the stairs Mitch's eyes were locked on the floor, he was as quiet as a door mouse.
"Here's the basement nothing really to see." I looked around the walls were painted a pale grey with one bookshelf on the back wall and a red couch that looked like it had seen better days. On the right side of the room a wooden table and chairs sat, along with a computer.
"Why do you have a computer down here? Wouldn't be easier if it were up stairs rather than down?" I asked as gently as I could.
"Because we don't use it!" he snapped at me, "Look I'm sorry, it was my dads old computer for work. It's just a possession we keep of him." He said quietly.
I nodded, I got what he meant we had kept my mothers locket that my dad bought her on their third date. It meant a great deal to him, my mother meant a great deal to him. He missed her so much that it made us all feel hear broken when we took it out.
"I hear ya, my mother passed away three years ago."
It felt good to get that of my chest and to tell someone that they weren't the only one going through this.
"If you don't mind me asking where did your dad work?"
"He was a writer, a good one at that. He'd always come down here and write."
"But I thought you just moved here." I said suspiciously.
"Oh yeah!" He said almost alarmed."I was err... talking about my old house, still feels like I'm there. You know?"
"Yeah." I said slyly.
Something was going on that I wasn't aware of and I was going to get to the bottom of it if it was the last thing I'd do!
