Chapter 19- A Cause worth fighting for

2 weeks later...
"Your speeding!" I screech at Mitch.
"I acknowledged the signs recommendations and simple disagreed." He says shaking it off.
"You're going 20 miles over!"
"Oh it's fine. It's a good thing you're cute when you're angry.
"Where are you taking me! I'm not in the mood!" I say aggression hitching my voice.
"Oh calm down princess, I'm just going to show you something."
"What?"
"You'll see in a few more minutes." He says finally slowing down.
"Is this about you know who? I don't have a chance against them, I never did!"
"The problem is you did once, and you know it."
"Don't you understand I made a promise the night my aunt died, that I'd never do that again!"
"And you promised you'd never lose your temper." He says his voice low.
"Okay, I'm sorry." I say shutting my mouth.
We pull in to an old abandoned parking lot with a broken down building. A big hole pierces the building sides with moss hanging from the buildings walls it's a pitiful sight.
"What is this?" I say getting out of the car.
"The old C.I.A's headquarters. A circumstance like this happened in the 1980's and no one found out in time. We're this close! We have the information that no adult has found out we're this close." His eyes gleam with hope I may pick up on what he's trying to say. "This is what will happen if we don't bring Mr. and Mrs. Bird down."
     "Oh." I say slowly. "But what happens if another person gets hurt, or worse dies. You know I can't handle that, after you know."
     "Shhh, it's okay, we don't need to talk about it."
      "My aunt use to tell me that," I say while a tiny tear slips, I quickly brush it away without Mitch noticing.
     "Well it's true, we don't need to talk about it but we do need to act on it."
      "I'm in." I say.
       "Really?"
        "Yeah, you're right we need to act on this, they killed a person;my aunt. I'm going to do whatever it takes."
      "We'll do whatever it takes," he says correcting me.
      "Thanks Mitch," I whisper in his ear and then give him a quick kiss on the cheek. I notice he was blushes as I walk back to the car.
      "Hop in, we have some criminals to catch and I know exactly what we need to do first."
