i hugged her from behind as she pondered knocking on the door.

"i just want you to know i'm her for you no matter what happens, okay?"

"okay..."

she whispered before knocking on the door.

little haley immediatly answered, embracing annie in a tight hug.

annie didn't hug back, she just looked at me, giving me a look that told me she didn't know what to do.

i gestured her to hug back, so she did so.

haley looked up at her and smiled.

"c'mon! we were just finishing up the movie!"

i smiled at annie before stepping in the house behind her, closing the door.

i followed haley down the hallway.

"haley, who is it?"

they yelled to her.

we turned the corner, revealing myself to my parents.

there mouths hung open as they saw me.

"a- annie. it's so great to see you!"

my mother exclaimed.

"really? i thought it would be terrible!"

i said sarcastically.

my mom gave me a very confused and apologetic look.

"relax, katie, i'm being sarcastic."

she looked disappointed when i called her by her name, instead of mom.

did she really expect for me to call the lady that abandoned me mom?

that's not what a mom does.

"um, your father and i were actually thinking me could talk to...hayden."

she said looking up at him.

"of course!"

he said.

she gestured towards the couch.

hayden and i sat down together and he wrapped his arms around my waist.

i smiled at him and then faced them.

"oh, annie, honey, we meant alone..."

my mom said.

"oh, uh, alright...i'll be outside."

i said, tears already forming.
