I was rolling down the hill, my body scraping on branches and rocks. My body finally comes to a stop as I just lay on the ground, tired of running away from all the events that had happened in the past few hours.
I stood up from the dirt and I realise that I was burning up from the fire close to me. I look around, but all I could see was smoke.
I got to get away from the wave, it's going to hit any moment.
I start running up the hill and I suddenly hear a scream from behind me.
I turn around and I could see Sophia holding a branch, awaiting to attack the creature in front of her.
I reach out my bag and I grab a flare from when I took it from the hotel and call out, "HEY YOU!"
The giant human turns around and I stare in shock as I could see Jordy's face on it.
No...
Sophia hits the thing with a branch and she makes a run for it, I follow her and we both could see the hotel in the distance.
However, the monster lunges for me and I fall to the ground with it.
"GET OFF! HELP ME SOMEONE," I cry out.
The monster suddenly lets out a cry and falls to the ground as I realise that there was an axe behind its back, as well as Brock.
"Get up! We don't have much time!" Brock helps me up as we make a run for it.
We were now running onto the beach and I could see the wave already about to hit. I could see Sophia run inside the building ahead as I start picking up the pace, basically running for my life.
I just make it in and I could see Sophia at the gate of the stairs, "THE WAVE IS RIGHT BEHIND!" I could feel an impactful hit behind me as I get push through the gate, but the gate closes and locks Brock out.
"GET IT OPEN GUYS!" Brock yells as more water starts rushing in. I try to push the gate open, but there was too much water pushing it towards us.
The water starts rising and Brock was slowly rising. "Brock! I'm trying, but it won't open! Can you find another way?"
Sophia starts pulling my shoulder to gesture me that it was too late for him, but I couldn't let him die.
Brock tries to dive below into the water to get to the basement, but the water keeps pushing him against the gate and now he was almost touch the ceiling. I slowly climb the stairs, standing next to him, but with the wall between us.
"I-I Don't think I'm getting out," Brock quietly chuckles.
"Come on! Don't say that," I start to tear up as I put my hand on the gate.
"Tell Mia I'm sorry and that I still-" Brock was now underwater and I dive down to see him, but Sophia pulls me up.
"We don't need another person dying! We gotta-"
We heard a loud freaking noise below us and that's when the floor gets destroyed and Sophia and I fall down into the basement.
I start gasping for air as I realise that all the water is coming down as well, as well I was being pushed everywhere by the water.
I open my eyes in the water, feeling that sting in my eyes and I could see Brock's dead body in front of me as I start to scream in the water.
Sophia pulls me out of the water as I start choking. "Th-thanks," I say as I finally catch my breath.
"This isn't the basement," Sophia states as she observes the area, "we fell so deep, I think we're in a cave?"
I look around and I could see the basement high up on the ceiling of this cave.
There was a loud shriek that echoes through the cave as Sophia and I stare at each other, worried of what was going to happen.
How do we get out now?
