Breaching Daylight

Prologue (XIII). Elizabeth Frey

Elizabeth Frey | 2 years before | Basement

I was exploring the basement with Sophia. Well I'm pretty sure Sophia abandoned me, but I was still curious. I had my phone as a flashlight, but the basement still was pretty dim and massive.

I start whistling for fun, but I notice red, dry blood on the ground. I kneel to the floor and touch it, but when I did, I realise it wasn't dry.

I start gagging as I wipe the wet blood off my hands and that's when I heard a loud clanging noise ahead of the hallway from me.

Should I investigate the noise? Or will I be the first to die in this horror scenario?

I look at my hands and thought,

Nah.

I was about to walk off, however someone I recognise slowly becomes visible from the shadows. "Chris?" I call out, but get no response from him.

"Chris, you ok?" Yet still no reply. I walk up to him, but he turns around and scurries off somewhere. I look down at the exact spot he stood at and there was a pools of blood coming from something further ahead.

I knew I had to start running and so I did. I ran and I didn't stop til I reach the gate of the stairs and ran up.

When I got to the lobby floor I could hear the elevator door close, I turn around and I could see Mia helping Chris.

I was probably drunk from the little alcohol I had.

Elizabeth Frey | 1 year before | School Gymnasium

Our whole school was in the gymnasium. The students sat on chairs, teachers stood by the walls of the gym and the principal and a couple of students stood at the front. The principal got the microphone ready. Chatter echoes through the gym. As well as sorrow and grief for Mia Cooper.

I could see Abby and Alex talking in front of me,

Didn't realise they were a thing.

Andrew, James and Mitch were talking behind me about what had happened last Friday with the man with the gun and next to me were two missing people, Hannah and Wayde.

The microphone finally turns on and the principal tells us the reasoning of why we are all here; to commemorate Mia who had a unsubtle death.

Abby was now laughing along with Alex and I could hear our teacher shush them.

Two days ago, Abby looked as if the world was against her, but now that she finally returns after she was missing for three days, she acts as if nothing ever happened.

I look up at the front of the gymnasium and I could hear and see Wayde talking as well as Hannah standing next to him.

"Mia was a one of a kind friend, she always laughs at my stupid jokes, supported me-" I stop paying attention because the projector turns on and behind Wayde I could see photos of me with burning eyes from the party.

What the fuck?

The photo then skins to another and this time it was Abby and Mitch making out, with devil horns on their heads.

The photo starts changing as people start to react and look at our class in particular because it was all the photos from the party we had one year ago.

Hannah and a Wayde turn around and they could see a photo of them with crosses on their eyes.

The projector finally turns off.

The whole school ends up leaving the gymnasium, but my class stays behind.
