Layla Paddle | 2 years before | Front Of Hotel Royale Momento

I sit quietly, staring at the sky as I take sip of beer from a cup. Rain starts pouring down and that's when I lean back on the pillar in front of the hotel. Resting my eyes, closing them slowly.

'What are you doing out here?'

I open my eyes and in front of me was Andrew Riedell, a cute guy that I had a crush on since primary school.

'Taking a nap, care to join?' I ask as he sits next to me with a beer bottle.

'You know, it looks decent with the view like this,' Andrew breaks the awkward silence, 'I mean, this is a photo op right here, the rain like this and the trees and the beach on a night sky.'

I look out in the horizon and I had to admit, he was right.

'Well, I better go grab another one,' Andrew stands up, 'want anything?'

'Nah it's all good, I'm probably just going to stay here and rest for a bit,' I reply, 'and also to enjoy this photo op of course.'

Andrew laughs and heads off and I close my eyes once again, just seeing the view fade out.

'BANG!' A loud thunderstorm had woken me up and along with a loud screeching noise. I got up from the floor and realise I was lying on the muddy ground, close to the hotel.

What the hell am I doing here?

I got up from the floor, holding onto my arms to stay warm from the rain. However as I make my way to the steps of the hotel. Andrew and Jordy come running out.

'Layla! Have you seen Chris?' Andrew shouts in fear.

I apply lipstick on my lips as I stare at myself in the bathroom mirror. I wind down the lipstick and place the lid on top, then I reach for my ponytail and take off the hair tie.

'Layla?' I turn around in shock to see Mia who looks depressed then ever.

'Holy shit! Don't scare me like that!' I scold at Mia who didn't even react.

'What happened between us? We used to be good friends,' Mia says silently as she washes her hand in the sink.

'People change yeah? They always don't stay the same,' I explain as I take my eyeliner out and apply some on my eye.

'But now you're a bitch to me, always following Abby around as well,' Mia says quietly.

I turn around and slap Mia, 'I don't follow anyone around! I'm my own person!' I grab my bag on the sink table and took off.

I turn around to see Mia walking out as a paper ball lands on her head and that's when Abby suddenly starts attaching her. I watch from afar as Mia gets tormented.

I'm sorry.
