Chapter 24

Y/N's POV:

The school year is almost over, and I haven't talked to Daniel, Rylan, or Dottie for weeks. I wanted to hang out with them again. "Y/N. Let's go. We want to vandalize the school." Gene told me. "Actually, I'm going to stay here today. I'll meet you at the park after school, okay? I have a surprise for you all." I smiled. "Whatever. See ya." Gene waved and left with Sasha, Zenix, and Zane.

"Not going with them today?" A deep voice asked. "Nope." I turned my head to see Blaze. "It's been a while." He laughed. "Whatever. Come on. We have class!" I grabbed his hand (not romantically) and dragged him to class.

"There you are!" Dottie looked at me specifically. "Y/N L/N! Where have you been all this time??" The teacher asked. "Nowhere in particular." I shrugged. I sat down next to the empty seat where Ein used to sit. I looked in his desk to see pictures of Aphmau, but as a werewolf. I decided not to look at them anymore, as they were really, really disturbing.

"There has been a change in some schedules, so now Daniel will be joining us for class for the last week." Daniel!!! The teacher pointed to the seat next to mine and Daniel started to walk to it. "Daniel. I'm so so so so sorry!" I apologized. "For what, Y/N? For stabbing us in the back?" He snapped.

Woah. What happened when I was gone?

"I get that you're mad, but please, let me explain!" I begged. "What's your filthy excuse now, Y/N?" He crossed his arms. "I wanted to see what being a Shadow Knight was like. It's stupid, I know... and what Gene said, well, was because he was trying to cover for me." I sighed. "I won't get mad at you if you stay in the Shadow Knights, but please... don't do anything stupid..." He laughed.

I can't promise that... "Don't worry... I won't." I smiled. "Daniel and I care about you and love you. We don't want you to get in big trouble." Dottie came up to us and giggled. "Yeah..." I sighed. I have already gotten in trouble.

"Good, good. I wouldn't want Daniel's future wife to get in trouble this early in life." Dottie winked. "I... well.... um...." Daniel was speechless. "I'm just pulling your leg! I'm only kidding. For now." She giggled.

Daniel and I turned away in embarrassment. "Woah. Why are you guys looking away from each other? Trouble in paradise?" I looked up and saw Ein. I looked in fear. "Uh... hello?" I shook my head to see Anthony. One of the nicer humans. "Oh. Sorry. I spaced out!" I laughed nervously.

I swear I saw Ein right in front of me! If I tell someone, will they believe me?
