"THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME!" Alex screamed as he picked a rock up off the ground and crushed it into dust as fine as flour between his finger and thumb. I giggled at his reaction and I looked around at the other guys. They were all crushing rocks like it was nothing, jumping up higher than the trees, and just acting like little three year olds rediscovering the world. Alex looked over to me, his eyes as wide as the moon.

"I can smell your shampoo, conditioner, soap, the cereal you had, and I can smell your perfume. All from ten feet away!" He laughed. I smiled at him warmly. "I wanna show you something." He said while walking up to me. "Do you trust me?"

I found myself saying yes. That little word brightened up his face.

"Come here." He picked me up and jumped. He was now standing on the highest tree branch. He set me down on the branch gently and sat down next to me. I looked down, we were probably at least seventy feet off the ground. I gasped at the height and felt myself sway.

"Don't worry, I've got you." He said as he placed a hand on my thigh. I nodded and looked forward. The view took my breath away. It was sunrise and the sky was filled with pinks, purples, and blues. Normally Ashley, Dylan, and I would hate getting up this early but Alex and the guys were so excited about their heightened senses that they couldn't wait.

"Beautiful." I whispered.

"Yeah it is." He answered quietly, looking at me. I smiled internally.

"HEY LOVE BIRDS! WE SHOULD GO DO THE THING NOW!" Jack screamed. Alex laughed before dropping off the branch and landing on the ground.

"COME ON JESS!" Alex shouted, holding out his arms ready to catch me.

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!"

"FUCK NO!" He replied with a smug grin on his face.

"For fuck's sake." I heard Zack mutter before jumping up, taking me in his arms, and jumping us down smoothly.

"Hey I was having fun." Alex whined to Zack.

"Fuck you." I said laughing. He returned the grin as he put his arm around my shoulders while walking over to the wear house. The plan was Dad was with the Lawlers, when I called, he'd say that Alex is in prime position to be attacked. Then we'd tell them to meet us at the wear house where we'd make our move. The Lawlers would be hit with the element of surprise and they'd be outnumbered. We walked to our destination, I made the call, then waited with the rest of the guys in the rafters. Everyone was spread out but Alex insisted on keeping me next to him.

"Remind me why we brought you?" Alex mumbled.

"I'm not totally helpless you know." I remarked, holding up my stake.

"You couldn't even kill me when I was a normal vampire."

"Fine but I can fend them off."

"As soon as shit goes down, I want you out of here and back home."

"Like that's going to happen." I replied sarcastically.

"Jess, I mean it." He said putting a hand on my knee and looking at me with a stern expression.

"So do I. I'm not leaving."I stated firmly before a clang echoed through the house.

"Where is he?" Angelina asked, followed by Mike, Jared, and my Dad.

"He's in here." Dad said, leading them to the middle of the wear house where we all waited to spring. I smiled at how outnumbered they were.

"Alex isn't here is he?" Jared asked, with a malicious tone.
