"Then who brought my necklace back? Who saved me? Who carried me home? Who sang with me? That wasn't you? Then who was that? Because he was much more genuine than you are now." I cried, looking straight at him.
"That wasn't me. You just want it to be."
"No Alex, that was you. I'm looking at you right now and I can see plain as day that this is not you. You just want it to be because then you won't have to deal with the guilt. You convince yourself that you're a killer, so when you do kill, it doesn't hurt so much. Well guess what Alex? You aren't a killer, it's going to hurt, let it. But don't you dare lie to me, or Jack, Rian, Zack or even yourself by thinking you're a monster."
My words seemed to have had an impact because he looked taken back now. I approached him slowly. He stared at me for a long time, I could see in his eyes he was trying to work through something. After a few moments of silence, he spoke,
"But I'm a lost cause. All I've ever done is bring misery. From day one, that's all I ever did." He said, his voice so broken.
"Oh, Alex." I whispered rushing up to him. I encased him in a comforting hug, despite all the blood he was covered in. He was too stunned to hug me back. "Alex you are not a lost cause. Don't ever think that." I said strongly. At my words, he hugged me back. After a few minutes of hugging, I led him upstairs, passed the stunned boys. Alex seemed pretty numb. If I didn't guide him through the motions he'd just stand there. I helped him get undressed and put on some sweats and a Blink 182 T-shirt. I quickly made a play list for us and plugged my phone into his speakers, making sure to turn the volume down low. I guided him to lay on his bed, and snuggled next to him. It felt good to cuddle with him again.
"Jess?" Alex's voice rang through my ears.
"Yes?" I replied.
"Why do you have faith in me?" He asked. I thought for a moment.
"Because yes, you've done some really bad things, but you try not to. And you feel remorse for what you've done, not many vampires can say that. Also even though I've seen your bad side, I've also seen your good side and your good side is worth the bad." I said, meaning every word.
"Thank you. I mean it. I don't know what I'd do without you." He replied sounding very tired.
"You're welcome, lex." I answered gently. His arms snaked around my body and pulled me closer to him. I heard him mumble something.
"What was that?" I asked quietly, I could tell Alex was extremely close to sleep.
"You make me not want to die." he whispered right before he slipped under, his arms still clamped around me. In severe contrast to earlier, I felt completely and utterly safe.
I unlocked the guy's house and walked in, I spent so much time there that they gave me a key.
"HONEY I'M HOME!" I called.
"IN HERE!" Rian answered from the living room.
"CAN YOU GRAB US ALL SOME BEERS?" Jack asked. I laughed to myself and pulled out five beers. After walking in, I saw Rian and Jack on the couch, Zack sitting on the floor, and Alex sitting in a chair looking generally displeased with the world. I passed out the beer and watched as they used their vampire strength to pop off the caps. I sat between Rian and Jack and glanced at the baseball game they were watching.
"Do you mind?" I asked, holding the top of my bottle to Zack.
"Not at all!" He replied, popping the cap off.
